    SuperDitkaMan's Nagy and Pace Thread

Do you remember whose draft pick was used by the Patriots to get Gronk? It was the Bears 2nd round pick that we shipped away to Tampa in exchange for Gaines Adams -- who died shortly after the trade. I am not sure which is worse -- signing Cutler to the extension or essentially trading...

Pace Delivers Death Sentence to Bears Organization

Glennon being good is not the problem. The problem is wasting two 3rd round picks and a 4th round pick for a guy you could have gotten by just standing pat. The 49ers played Pace like a drum. They gave up nothing (they got the guy they would have drafted anyway) and received two 3rds and a...

Pace Delivers Death Sentence to Bears Organization

The multiple decades is a bit much -- 3 to 5 years is more believable Otherwise, I agree with your post.

What to do with the extra 14 million next year...

According to Overthecap.com, we will have about $53 million of cap space -- it goes to $67 million when they get rid of Cutler. Some of that would be used to resign Alshon, if he wants to play in Chicago. We need almost everything, not sure it matters much which area is addressed first.

Judging Alshon Jeffery’s worth no simple task for Bears front office

His weight in gold would be just under $5 million

Article: It’s Now Time to Explore Trading Alshon Jeffery

Losing productive players has not been the Bears problem. Their problem is not drafting productive players in the first place. You can only win big in the NFL if you have a roster that consists primarily of draft picks working on their first contract. Only in that way will you have sufficient...

Article: It’s Now Time to Explore Trading Alshon Jeffery

The point is not whether the Bears and Pats are comparable right now. The Patriots have had a consistent philosophy over the past 15-20 years (at least as long as Bellicek has been there). They do not over pay to keep their own players, they know the type of player that they want on the team...

Article: It’s Now Time to Explore Trading Alshon Jeffery

What do you think you can get for Alshon Jeffery in a trade? If you can get a 1st or 2nd round pick, then fine the trade may be worthwhile. If not then let him play under the tag and then let him walk as a free agent and get a compensatory pick.

Post draft 2016 win total over/under

7-9 or 8-8 sound about right to me, but its probably the worst thing that can happen -- not good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to get a premier player in the draft. Its like being in purgatory. My preference would be 16-0 or 1-15.

Article: It’s Now Time to Explore Trading Alshon Jeffery

In the salary cap era you must value a player based on two factors, not one -- value as a player minus what you are paying him. If you are paying a player exactly what he is worth, then his only trade value is for another player who is being paid what he is worth or more. Winning teams will...

Article: It’s Now Time to Explore Trading Alshon Jeffery

At some point Bears fans have to realize that it may be better to let a talented player walk as a free agent than to pay him more than he is worth. Letting him walk is not 'for nothing'. We would get a compensatory pick for him if we do the smart thing and avoid signing high priced free...

What pick at #7 would really piss you off?

If we could get Danny Shelton and Landon Collins, I would be very happy.

Obradovich on the Score earlier - Almost sold me on Cutler

Marpet is an OL not a DE. In High School he played both OT and DE. At Hobart he played OT. He is projected as an OG or C in the NFL. Its unlikely that he will still be available in the 4th round, much less the 5th. However, he would be a great pick in the 5th round.

I think you are right about Tillman as a nickle -- Free Safety makes more sense to me -- and lord knows we need at least one FS.

How well did Jay Cutler play vs Packers?

So you are saying that he would rather freeze his (their) asses off in Chicago rather than Minnesota or St. Louis or perhaps Houston or Jacksonville or Tennessee. Some will say we should put the franchise tag on him, but that will cost us $15-16 million next year -- he is not worth that. But...

How well did Jay Cutler play vs Packers?

The only reason that we have a 'fuck ton of $$ and cap space' is because we have a record number of free agents of our own, most of which are not worth re-signing. That fuck ton of $$ will evaporate very quickly once free agency begins. We can't afford to simply try to fill all of the holes...
