    I applaud Ryan Poles

Actually Poles earned all that via gutting the shitty team to create the cap space and via the brilliant trade with Carolina. He wasn't handed anything really. He created all this fortune. Of course, plenty of luck is involved too.

Bears give hint for No. 9 pick plans; Braxton Jones about to have a miserable April.

Not sure what you think I am afraid of other than the current OL is bad and CW will be killed like JF was if more improvements are not made. Shelton and Bates are simply stop gap marginal upgrades at Center. Poles needs to draft a long term replacement but it is looking like that will have to...

Bears give hint for No. 9 pick plans; Braxton Jones about to have a miserable April.

I agree we need help on the DL too but getting a rookie QB killed would be terrible for his development and if this rookie QB fails, it does not matter how good the DL is. Upgrading our LT makes the team better from a starter upgrade and depth, depth that will be needed. Borom needs to go...

Bears give hint for No. 9 pick plans; Braxton Jones about to have a miserable April.

No, I am making no predictions at all. I would just be going off Alt's known skill set and potential. You keep harping on the 2 sacks but Jones also missed over a 3rd of the season and had 32 pressures allowed in those 11 games played. He was pushed into the pocket way too many times. The...

Bears give hint for No. 9 pick plans; Braxton Jones about to have a miserable April.

Yes, the team still has holes at other positions. I surely don't expect Poles to fill all the holes this year. That said, I still feel the OL is the biggest weak link. They were terrible last year and have marginally upgraded at C this year so far. Anytime a team can upgrade the 2nd most...

Bears give hint for No. 9 pick plans; Braxton Jones about to have a miserable April.

I've been clamoring for them to use #9 for a LT because the OL is the weak link. Jones is easily upgradable. He's serviceable but that is not good enough for a LT. Make Jones the swing tackle and the Oline is in way better shape (assuming the draft pick performs as expected). Bookend youth...

20 mins of CW playing from the pocket

Great stuff. So excited for a possible successful era at QB for the Bears. I still have huge concerns about the OL and hope it does not get CW killed. Can't wait to see what they do at #9 in the draft.

    People forget one thing

No pass rush outside of Sweat. Hole to fill at DT after losing Jones. A solid 3T is really needed. OL is definitely below average and will be a detriment to CW like it was to JF. Need a WR3. They are very weak after the top 2. All are still addressable but need to be addressed. 1, 3, or 4...

    At pick 9

If by some miracle, Alt dropped to 9, you run to the podium and take him. The team would be set at tackle. Move Jones to swing tackle and the OL is way better.

    state your position now

Agreed. The OL is a definite weak spot for them that will surely impact CW the way it did JF. I am really hoping Alt falls to 9 but I know that isn't happening.

Most recent PFF has us getting Nabers

None are differentiators. All depth. Not a single starter, save for Bates as a default, in that bunch.
  12. Washington

    state your position now

No. Serious upgrades are needed on the Oline and they need a 2nd pass rusher and a replacement for Jones on the Dline.

Most recent PFF has us getting Nabers

I really hope they go LT but both the OL and DL need work especially after losing Jones on the DL. I just look at what a differentiator having an excellent OL made for Love last year in GB. He was not sacked once in either playoff game against 2 very good Dlines. CW will be in a world of...

    What happened to Bates?

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

Most recent PFF has us getting Nabers

The Oline is still crap and not one the team can win with. CW will have some skill position players but he'll be running for his life the way Fields did. All that has happened so far is a small potential upgrade at C with a player who was another team's backup and not a pure C.

Flus is sleeping with the enemy

Flus probably told him that he will have a QB next year that can play well against zone D versus the current QB that did not play well against zone.

OT Bills cut Pro Bowl Center Mitch Morse

The way I see it is worst case, the Bears have an experienced backup for C and G and to me, a 5th rounder is surely worth that. Poles has lots more work to do on the OL and I believe he knows that. Time will tell how good Bates ends up being, but the 5th round pick is worth that risk to me.

"I want to be a playoff team next year" - Poles

Spot on - 100%. The team can't win with that Oline. In priority - C, G, LT. Jenkins will get hurt again for some games. He always does. Davis is meh. Jones is serviceable but that is not good enough. If Jones was the swing tackle and Davis was depth, things would be so much better. No...

    Dan Weiderer article on CW

I personally found the article to be a great read. Lots of quotes in there from others about the positives and negatives. I personally think the positives out weigh the negatives and by a lot. Caleb will be fun to watch next season. Poles had better do him a super solid and improve the...

    Super-boring off-season so far; wouldn't you agree?

They definitely need multiple upgrades on the OL. That is currently a pretty poor bunch that I don't believe they can win with. No doubt they need at least 2 WRs and another DE. Poles needs to nail free agency this year. He'll get his QB and a WR I believe in the 1st.
