  1. Grade the OC Hire

I voted B instead of A, because Bears. My rating really is B+. It's great the Bears have finally hired a play-caller who has actually shown he can adapt his coaching to the talent of his players, instead of trying to force a square peg into a round hole.
  2. I have become an independent voter in the Fields/Williams debate...convince me one way or the other

Is trading the #1 really going to bring in a "haul"? Those in favor are certainly assuming so. Last year the #1 brought back a good return, but certainly not a haul. Any trade is not going to be done in a vaccuum - the other GM's across the league know the choices Poles is facing, and will try...
  3. 239

Sarcasm aside, I don't remember anyone stating that
  4. 239

That's the number of yards per game Fields needs to average for the remaining 12 games of the season to surpass 4000 yards. The way the offense has played the past two games, it certainly is within the realm of possibility. Hope springs eternal.
  5. Disappointed with Dexter

Okay, after reading through many of your replies, I admit I was having an emotional knee-jerk reaction as I watched the game recording the next morning, wanting to see signs of dominance, when I should have been cutting him some slack. Also should have avoided the "bust" label; much too early...
  6. Disappointed with Dexter

When the Bears passed on Carter, I was hoping that Poles had found a hidden gem with Dexter. I watched his reps closely in the Colts game and saw little to supply me that hope. He shows no ability to power rush, and the opposing OL have little trouble pushing him backwards or to the side...
  7. Panthers Look Like Hot Garbage

The '85 Bears actually won the last preseason game against Buffalo, 45-14. After the game, Bears receiver Dennis McKinnon was fired up and said, "We could go 15 & 1!" True story; I've never forgotten reading his prediction in the paper. Does anyone else remember that quote?
  8. Where To Find Bears Discussions.

You couldn't be more wrong - I have no skin in the game for realgm. I'm simply a Bulls fan and enjoy the Bulls talk over there. Since I also love the Bears, I noticed that thread I mentioned. I lurk here because it's the busiest Bears forum I have found. Having said that, there's a lot of noise...
  9. Where To Find Bears Discussions.

If you want a break from the noise here and spend a bit of time reading some decent Bears discussion, there's a thread on the realgm Bulls board that started sometime around when the Bears received the #1 pick. I'm not going to post a link to another forum, but you can find it easily enough...
  10. So, Fields is the real deal? Right?

The word of the day is: Comfortable This is the first time I've ever seen Fields look comfortable in the Bears offense, preseason or regular. Regardless of who lines up in front of them, they need to build on this.
  11. Velus Jones Jr and Fields were texting before the draft

Well, we can always hope Jones ends up being the Kurt Warner of NFL WR's. Not sure if VJ ever bagged groceries though...
  12. Bears Sign Former Titans Safety Dane Cruikshank

I remember the "Good Rex / Bad Rex" talk during the SB season. With the Beloved contending for a SB berth, I thought all the stars were aligned. Then Mike Brown and Tommie Harris got hurt. Still, for some reason I thought there was no way Grossman would be "Bad Rex" in the SB... Why are most...
  13. OT: Stafford: Great or Nah?

Never understood the need to tear a player down when they are having success. When Stafford was in the Bears' division, I could see it because he was a rival, and that's what rival teams' fans do. There are some valid criticisms being argued against Stafford, but the only way to silence them is...
  14. MONTGOMERY WARD

As long as we're going down memory lane... Wieboldt's
  15. ground can't cause a fumble?

Okay, I get that. Kmet did not complete the catch, so it was still a live ball because it hadn't touched the ground, correct?
  16. ground can't cause a fumble?

Honest question; why wasn't Kmet's "fumble" called that way? Didn't the ball jar loose caused by his elbow hitting the ground? Just want to understand how the rule is applied...
  17. Your bold prediction for the season

Bears will surprise and win 11 games.
  18. Sam Mustipher presser

Sam Mustipher presser This guy looks like he really put on some bulk! Comes across very articulate, the man seems to know his craft.
