Wow, what a defensive game. Illinois really pulled of a gem for a 2win team. Brett Bielma with a signature win and ncaa history.

When I moved to Texas, UTSA had just STARTED their program, they were pretty terrible. Over the course of the last 5-6 years they’ve become a decent program and just moved into the AAC.

The athletic director needs to be fired at U of I. Awful.

Program just had a major facility upgrade and a new coach. Not going to be a 1 year turn around but pointed in right direction. Hell in 20 or 30 years we might be in the playoffs. ?

Why should the Illinois AD be fired?

I used to follow Illinois football and basketball for years. After the men's basketball team lost in the NCAA Finals I lost interest and it never returned. That was like 15 years ago.

9 OTs to get to 20 points. Football in Illinois is really something.
9 OTs and the two teams were 8 - 10 points under the Over/Under.

Illinois turned it over three times, missed a FG, lost their RB that had over 220 yards rushing to a helmet to helmet hit, missed two open receivers in the end zone in OT for the win, and somehow got a W against a team (ridiculously) ranked #7.

Weird. Bad, bad football. The illinois D played well, but that OT was brutal.

BTW, there are two college football threads - one in the Bears forum and one in All Sports forum - plus one Big Ten football thread, and now this one.

I don't know, I can't remember his name but the athletics crashed on his watch. Maybe the eventually fired him, I try(ied) tuning into Illinois games, was a huge fan even during their suckage. I stopped watching, it became unbearable. Even the mens basketball program went to shit. I think Volleyball is the thing there now ?

Brown's head hit the ground, it wasn't helmet to helmet.

There's a new rule after the first two OTs they just have a two point conversion battle. So it was 16-16 after two OTs and noone got a two point conversion for the next five OTs.

So, when you say "The Illinois AD should be fired", you're talking about a guy who is NOT currently in the position, and may, in fact, have been fired?

Thanks for clearing that up. It all makes perfectly good sense now. :obama:

I am confused. What does UTSA have to do with the Illinois versus Penn State 9OT game?

But they must have an amazing defense.

They held the 7th ranked team in the country to only 18 points in 9 OTs.

Perspective.
