It's a risky move, I can't imagine that there will be a big market for him at $16mil over one year.

Sox will have to either accept a really weak return or take half his salary for a decent prospect.

Itd be funny if the cubs end up getting him back for peanuts! Amirite @jooo83 ?! I said PEANUTS!

That would be great. But I have to admit I'm a confused about your post. Did we have a convo about Kimbrel at some point?

night stocker?? You must have me confused with your job. Or you just can’t spell the word “stalker.” Either way, looks bad on you…just like it looked bad on you saying the cubs wouldn’t be able to trade most of the guys they did, and that they would get “PEANUTS” for the ones they did trade. Couldn’t be more wrong! Doesn’t take a “GM” to of figured that one out. The only “PEANUTS” are the ones in your “brane”

Kimbrell with Cubs=Lights out unhittable
Kimbrell with Sox= Pitches like a AA pitcher.

Uh....maybe the Sox fucked him up? Maybe La Russa had no fucking clue how to use him.

Sox GM........we have one of the best closers in the game with Hendricks but let's go out and trade for another future hall of fame closer.

Brilliant

Us Cub fans knew that once Kimbrel was not made the closer he would lose his edge. His game is like 90% mental and that part was taken from him. I feel bad because I was rooting for the Sox and wanted Kimbrel to do well.
I agree completely. In some ways Kimbrell reminds me of Rod Beck. A guy you wouldn't want to use in any other situation. But in the ninth his aura, intensity, will and unflappable nature just somehow get the job done.

Hendricks is more of a strikeout "artist" and I thought was the better fit as a set-up guy you could also deploy you know with like 1 out in the seventh and a runner on third.

I would have handled it by handing closer title to Kimbrell and giving Hendricks a modest extension on the same day, you know compensate him where it counts and let him know he is more valuable at the crisis point late in games. Here's a few more bucks, keep doing your thing.

The last time the Flubs had "peanuts" was in the 1940's~~

LaRussa is just coaching in the wrong era. I watched the playoff series and it seemed the Sox always hit into the shift and the Sox didn't shift at all, making their pitching staff look worse:
