I'm surprised that Quinn is doing so well with Mack out. I'd have thought his production would have fallen off without Mack
taking up 2-3 blockers. I know he was injured last year but still.
How do you explain it?

Quinn was an elite pass rusher prior to the injury. Not really surprised tbh.

It would have been interesting to see how the Bears would have gone last year if the play calling stayed with Lazer and Quinn was healthy with Mack. At that time the offense was starting to roll and then lost Mooney.

I wonder if injuries have messed with Mack & Jacksons production.

Maybe we should just go with the easiest answer.

He's good.

I'm not saying he's amazing or anything and all pass rushers production comes in stretches. He's probably having a good stretch at a time when the team needs him the most.

He was obviously hurt last year. The explosion and bend were not there. This year, he's playing at a very high level and it's not just the sacks. He's getting a ton of pressure and disrupting plays. To bad it's largely wasted but he's easily a top 10 pass rusher this season.

This exactly. We never saw that bend last year. This year he looks like a totally different player.

A Healthy year is a great year for more any player. You just hope he stays healthy and holds value for this contract that he has right now... too much of a cap hit to trade him. So better he plays, more likely to trade him when the cap does not hurt you.

Just health. Anybody with a 19 sack year is an elite talent.

Quinn himself stated that he was much more comfortable being deployed as a true edge rusher, standing up in a wide technique, not with his hands in the dirt. This way he can turn his elite speed into quite decent production. Desai realized that, Pagano did not. And, of course, he was playing hurt most of the time.

It's actually the opposite. He prefers his hand in the dirt.

Not taking away from Quinn, but Pettine has done really good upfront. He’s always had success with pressure everywhere he’s been.
