Question would become would he be looking for a fresh start?

And what if Pace was to trade for him to save his job?

Bears have nothing to trade for payton. Getting him out of contract would cost pics and they don’t have any….he’ll go to a team with better owners, which is any of them….

I think everyone would love to get S.Payton but i don't think it would be trying to save his job as much as it would be getting one of the best head coaches in the NFL to come coach the Bears.........even though it could also be a job saver. Lol

I'd like Don Shula or Bill Walsh too and they are just as available.

An A list headcoach will want these 3 key thangs . . .

1) Say in personnel
2) Full say in assistant coaches
3) Get paid

Sounds like bears ownership can cover all 3.

Oooops!

Saints don't really have to do anything.

I'm assuming if Sean tells them he wants to walk they would prob allow his request considering the facts.

However, I'm not sure WHY sean would ever leave NO to fix the bears. His team is a mediocre NFL starting QB away from being good.

Sean can get out of that contract whenever he wants. Simply has to state that he'll retire if not. Bears would still need to compensate to soften the blow. Would be a lot of angst but far from impossible. Very improbable? Sure.

How likely is this to happen? I wouldn't bet a dollar on it in Vegas.

Would I want this to happen? WHO THE F*** WOULDN'T???

To be honest. I think the Saints should go after Gardner Minshew. Plays like a mini Brees.

An Oline and Kamara can do wonders for a QB.

Pick someone actually available next time - not someone you hope is available.

He's a little old, but if he wants to resurrect his QB career... I suppose the Bears can ask. Would probably take more than they paid him in '87 though.

This is possible but not probable. It checks all the boxes for Payton. He would be working with a talented young quarterback, coming back to his hometown, and he also has a relationship with Pace. Bears would need to give up a lot though and we already don't have a lot of assets to trade. He can request for the Saints to let him out of his contract. This would be a home run if they can pull it off.
