A 2nd round WR isn’t going to make or break Justin Fields' career.

Taken as an absolute, that’s a fair statement, but a 5th round pick was incredibly important to the development of a Patrick Mahomes. So yes, it’s certainly possible that if one of these second round WRs balled out, it would help Fields’ early career and development a ton.

I’ve been up-front that I don’t believe Fields is a player who makes everyone around him better. I don’t think he’s a “succeed no matter who’s around him” kind of guy. I think help is paramount to Fields’ development and success.

Joe Burrow doesn’t have the year he had last year without Jamarr Chase. Josh Allen maybe doesn’t break out without Stefon Diggs.
Not disagreeing with what your saying because a top Wr does help out a QB. However, Mahomes was drafted to the perfect team. A team that already had a proven Wr and TE in Hill and Kelce. Josh Allen was already showing signs of improvement before Diggs arrived there. Joe Burrow had a pretty solid rookie season and most expected him to improve on that in year 2.

What I’m saying is a young QB doesn’t need a top Wr to improve. They need to be placed in a good system that’s allows them to play to their abilities. Fields could improve greatly this season under Getsy’s system since they are catering it towards his abilities. Mooney is more than solid enough to help elevate Fields game. I do think a lot of it comes down to system and protection.

I wasn't worried so much about drafting a WR as Watson has stone hands and Pickens is Antonio Brown 2.0 mentally. Moore is another midget, this team doesn't need another small WR. Everyone else wasn't going to contribute much this year anyway. But that line is atrocious. Maybe Jenkins and Borom improve but the rest are below average players, including an overpaid Whitehair. Dozier was complete trash for the Vikings and the rest are simply roster spots. Taking a return specialist in the 3rd was a massive reach by Poles. I love the speed but his hands are iffy and he is simply a screen or go route guy. He even ran his 40 incorrectly as he failed to run in a straight line. A lineman would have been the right way to go. Not a 25yr old return man. I don't see how Getsy will run the Shanahan run game with a shitty offensive line. Honestly, it seems Poles doesn't want Fields as his QB and wants to move on next season when the team drafts in the top 3. If Fields will succeed, he will have no help from the front office or the (lack of) talent around him.
Imagine how fast his time would have been if he ran it correctly.

Can’t believe Kansas City wasted another pick on a WR. Mahomes is good enough to just play in any environment… and elevate the mediocre talent around him.

I just don’t understand the desire to put more offensive talent around him.
It’s the way New England never hads to pay out ridiculous contracts.

Wtf are you honestly talking about? Whether he has time to throw or an open receiver doesn't matter?
Lol, see what I mean folks?

Read the first line again. You must be one of the "many people."

@Anytime23 thank you for putting this hypocrite in his place. He bitched for more weapons for Trubisky but now they aren’t needed for fields?

Makes sense. Why would a potential franchise altering talent at QB need protection and weapons anyways? I mean, it's not like he was sacked 50+ times last season and was seeing ghosts.

Glad this new scheme is so much better than the last one. Allowing the 2nd most sacks in the NFL this season is better than allowing the most sacks in the NFL the season prior.
Most likely do to Nagy's poor scheme than the talent of the players.

Good point. Kind of lost in all of this is that Poles, a former O-Lineman who said you want to build from the trenches out, didn’t draft a top OL prospect with any of his first 3 picks.
Ok...............Now exactly who was Poles to pick when the top 8 offensive linemen went in the first round, the top second round linemen #51 a center which was upgraded in free agency.

People want to make Justin Fields out to be this perfect quarterback prospect that the Bears are ruining, but fact is he had already fallen to eleventh overall last year and the only reason he didn't fall further is one of the worst evaluators of quarterback talent in the league reached up nine spots in a trade to grab him. He has legit problems going back to his time as a prospect.
Agreed. When QBs fall it’s because of them. Like Rodgers, Brees, Wilson, Mahomes…

Yet another horrible take by @Black Rainbow as he continues to assassinate fields' character.
Fields must have said “Black lives matter” or something and Black Rainbow must have heard it when he was mowing Fields yard for $5

...Suddenly all of the players and moves you've been shitting on the past two years are acceptable enough for Justin Fields.
1. Give me one good reason...
2. Remember all the hype about Mooney using a jugs machine in a hotel hallway?
3. The problem with Cole Kmet...........
4. Let's hear those OL predictions for 2022.
5. *** OFFICAIL *** NFL PLAYOFFS DIVISIONAL ROUND: BILLS @ CHIEFS 5:30PM CT IGT
6. Trevor Simien 2 yr deal
Outside of you liking the Pringle signing, you don't seem to believe any of these players or positions are set. Its just another case you shitting on absolutely everything all the time, but then when its time to prop up Fields situation, everyone is good enough because you have to set Fields up to be a disappointment when the predictable bad season happens.

He is a young, developing QB with a bad supporting cast and unknown coaching. To expect him to overcome this because of you've seen a couple young QBs do it is unrealistic. The rest of the league is trying to surround their QBs(proven or not) with good players, while the Bears are banking on coaching and playing defense. We just went back 15 years. Again.
Oh I see what @Gustavus Adolphus is referencing now. "Systematically Destroyed."

Read my post again with sarcasm and a mocking voice about opinions I've heard on here the last two years. I'm literally mocking ppl who propped up the supporting cast...but now that Fields has struggled..."he has ZERO help."

Somebody explain to @Montucky how the draft works. He believes QBs that fall in the draft deserve it but doesn’t seem to realize most QBs who are good are drafted later and not even in the top 10

You always resort to saying you’re shitposting or being sarcastic when you get easily destroyed. I suggest sitting this one out and continuing to collect Ls

Sounds like a lot of trash being brought in to compete.
With Guards I’m fine with them bringing in later talent but WRs we dropped the ball imo

A lot of talented o-lineman are drafted in the 4th round on, especially inside. Both guys Poles went after in free agency were originally UDFAs.

You don't like a guy that had to be 24 to breakout in college against 18 yos?
