San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara. Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington. The Bears can certainly move to Arlington Heights and still be the Chicago Bears. Anyone coming to a game and wanting to see the city wouldn't be doing it on gameday anyway. They could allocate a Friday/Saturday to exploring the city if they want and then the entirety of Sunday to gameday.

Why as a founding team should we do something just because those teams did it ? How about exploring a solution that keeps the Bears tradition and history while also bringing them current to the NFL standards

Lol I bet tourists wouldn't be able to make it to Arlington heights. That's a long trek

Im sure they make it on game days but who is gonna spend 4-5 billion dollars on the hopes tourists will travel an hour away from the the most popular tourist destination in the Midwest the other 355 days of the year

O'Hare is a lot faster trip to Arlington than it is any interesting part of the city. At the wrong time of day, that difference is an hour. There's a casino near the airport and some great restaurants and shopping in the area. City does have more culture and character but Bear games aren't about tourists. That would be more about other events that Soldier Field can't host , LOL.

Chicago isn't spending that $4B anyway so why should the Bear give a shit about tourism or other events. Kinda the point. They'll fill the stadium every game.

What does that have to do with whether he will make the trip to arlington heights?
Well considering we have been talking about distance and travel time and you asked the question if Bearman would go if they moved I pointed out that the travel time would not be any different from where he lives.. Why is that confusing?

so you are all in favor to move to Decator IL then? Or go back to playing at Wrigley field?

Soldier field sits on a 17 acre park.. they are buying 326 acres in Arlington Heights..

Maybe if the city would sell them a 300 acre plot of land they might stay in the city then?

If they decide to be the Decatur Staleys Id still love the team but the people who say it doesn't matter where they play while still wanting them to keep the name are being hypocrites .

But just to humor your asinine comment somehow you've equated 1 years in Decatur with 100 years in Chicago but hey its the same thing right ?

Nah man. The law states that you can only stay in town for the Bears game, and you must immediately get a plane to go home afterwards. There's simply zero way anyone would make a whole weekend of it.

The Bears aint putting up 4 billion either and as I said its gonna be a hard sale to find investors that are gonna pay billions for a storm that is only go be used 10 times a year.

As far as the city is concerned the Bears have made the playoffs 5 times in the past 20 years after the city invested 400 million dollars . What have the Bears actually given to the city even the Blackhawks and Bulls have brought titles in the last 25 years and actually built their practice facilities in the city limits . What tangible investment in Chicago have the Bears made and by Bears Im not talking about the players on the field Im talking about the Bears ownership who quite a few people seemed to be weirdly concerned about helping to build their wealth at everyone elses expense .

Im not against people making money but it seems to me that the McCaskey's sat around living off the backs of the fans and the league revenue sharing tits for decades never really putting a dime into growing the brand and now suddenly its the cities fault that they are in this predicament

There is enough space to do both the football stadium and keep horse racing and gambling. Churchill Downs should be giving away the land to the Bears for free in exchange for some ownership rights.

Isn't that what they're doing? Exploring all the options and forcing Chicago's hand if they want to keep the team in the city limits.

Of course. The Bears are not going to move out to the sticks just so they can host two Super Bowls every century. The City will cave and something will get done with regards to Soldier Field. Nobody is moving to Arlington Heights except more boring people with nothing going on in their lives.

I get that, but does it really require a move?

Cause imo, fuck that. The McCaskeys are the ones that cheaped out.

I would think fans would want them to just build a damn stadium on the lakefront
Where? Is there spare land on the lakefront?

You know basically all of the lakefront is landfill right? Chicago has been making land out of the lake throughout its entire history.

Or people who want to raise a family in peace and quiet without having to worry about being stabbed to death in broad daylight by a bum or carjacked by a 25 year old "youth" who just got released off his 8th gun charge in the name of restorative justice.

Valid complaints to an extent but honestly in most of the city its not an issue. And if you don't want to be predated on by city government near suburbs are fine compromises. Once you're past the Tri-State though? Why are you even bothering with Illinois at that point?

Because my question didn’t have to do with distance, and had to do with the thread itself
