I was thinking about giving Vegas a break and seeing Atlantic city.... is this a mistake? Has anyone ever been?

Is there enough within walking distance to the strip to keep someone occupied for 3 or 4 days?

Is the boardwalk enjoyable or is it seedy and gross?

I have never been to the eastern side of the country, so that is what has me thinking about it- should I skip AC and just do the coast at some point?

I was there once for a 'work' trip. This was 5+ years ago, but I thought it was shit hole compared to vegas

I had the same thoughts. Just wanted to see it for a night or so but heard it's an absolute dump.

Atlantic City was a thing when your only options were that and Las Vegas. Now most states have their own casinos. Nothing appealing in Atlantic City compared to Vegas. If you want to try another place prob New Orleans (never been there) sounds like there would be some unique things to do

I have done nola inside and out- great place with so much to do it warrants several trips.

So- those who have been...the boardwalk is nothing special? No good food or shops?

I wouldn’t make it my focal point vacation but maybe make it part of a New York or Boston vacation(still haven’t been to Boston) or Philly. Also if you’re more of a beach person than pool you prob enjoy it more than I did. I haven’t been there in a long time to comment on the food(food has changed allot all over since Covid) and not the shopping type lol

Been once decades ago. Not Vegas or even in that neighborhood then. The best thing about Atlantic City is the song Bruce Springsteen wrote.

New Orleans doesnt really have gambling. I mean yea, we have Harrahs Casino on Canal St. and Video poker at bars and restaurants but thats it. The Mississippi Gulf Coast has a bunch of casinos down strips of the beach that would be more like it. Its only Its about an hour from Nola. Gulfport all the way to Biloxi.

It's no Vegas, but it's something to do I guess? But I am much closer than most. I wouldn't book a trip just to go to Atlantic City.
It's dirty, and at night you can't venture too far from the properties and still feel safe.
Stray cats everywhere on boardwalk. cig butts all over beach and most tourists are New York assholes IMO. There is a edge to people up there. They live too damn fast IMO.

But if I happened to be close, like Philadelphia, I'd venture over if I were you. Just don't get your hopes up.

Sounds like an emphatic "no" across the board.

I was envisioning Vegas lite with a beach.

Sounds more like someplace you would stop when you saw the exit on the freeway and had to piss.

If i wanted to visit off track betting sites in a strip mall sitting atop a swamp, i would’ve gone to staten island

No- the inspiration was much more pathetic than that.
The new family guy episode last night was peter and the gang doing a work trip there.

...I thought- hmm... never been there....maybe......

At the end they stood on the dock watching corpses float in.

Of all the people on this board, AT should make a vlog about his trip to A.C. Tiddies everywhere and I'm sure he'd find himself in some hilarious predicaments. Just don't die.

I think I am opting for vegas, late july.
Seems the fates have spoken, I got an offer in my inbox I cant pass up.

Titties will be outdone by dessert wind vs. sundresses... The scantily clad ladies in the showgirl outfits that prowl for photo ops are cool and all, but you just cant beat sundresses fluttering up and showing tan cheeks.

My host must be monitoring my online presence- making me feel loved there and lure me away from the new interest.

Perhaps I will reach out to Rask while in town.
