At this point Robinson should not be extended. The fact is Foles doesn't rely on him as much as Trubs and 18-20 million per year on a non-elite WR is a stretch. ARob is a very good not great WR. That money is needed elsewhere and next year's draft will be deep at WR yet again.

Sure the Bears are in bad shape for 2021, but there are still 11 teams that look worse than they do AND 2 of them are in your division!

I'm getting confident that the league will have to give some sort of COVID cap relief around the salary cap dropping, otherwise they will have a problem with the NFLPA when they end up cutting a massive number of players and the contract environment disallows them to make anywhere near what they were getting paid.

If the NFL doesn't step in then the NFLPA will have years to talk about the importance of fully guaranteed contracts, which the NFL wants to avoid at all costs.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
I'm not certain of this, but I showed these numbers to a guy I know that follows these things, and he was telling me that Leno's deadcap number goes down if he's cut after June 1.

June 1 just allows you to take the pro rated cap hit current year and the rest of it in the following year.

So if we use Leno as an example he has 2.3, 1.4 and 1.4 million SB left for 2021, 2022, and 2023. If he is cut before June 1, 2021 then all of it ie 5.1 million is his dead cap for 2021. If he is cut after June 1 then only the 2021 amount counts for 2021 ie 2.3 million. The rest of it ie 2.8 million would be pushed into 2022's cap year.

The downside would be that until you cut him he would count the full 11.3 million against the cap so basically you wouldn't be able to use that money in FA.

Almost certainly will be some sort of Covid cap provision or the nfl may just halt the cap drop. Politics around Covid have changed, the NFLPA will fight tooth and nail against the cap dropping to $175m - that’s like the players as a whole losing over half a billion dollars across the 32 teams.

Leno made sense at the time. He just completely fell off a cliff. The DT and Cohen extensions were just terrible.

Yeah, I agree that the Leno extension made sense at the time. He's gone downhill since the contract. That's tough to anticipate.

Danny T is also one I don't necessarily dispute. He fell off a cliff this year (though apparently by the recent posts, this is debated).

Cohen's extension was such a headscratcher. He's a gadget player, punt returner, and has trended downward but they still extended him. I just don't get it.

Cutting Leno, Massie and Graham gets you to 13.5 million cap space. Restructure Hicks and Fuller probably gets you to 20 million or so. Not ideal but doable.

Sorry but ARob probably has to walk. Again, this is why we should have started the process of getting OL and WRs this past draft.

Hooper and Claypool/OL probably a lot better long term than 1 year Jimmy Graham and Kmet.

Yea, then you can sign no one with that 13.5 M

GJ ?

Remy the GM is as meatball as it gets.

You cut 3 starters and replace them with trash too.

He didn't really trend downward, everyone on that offense last year did. I'm not as down on him as others are. Hard for a small guy to run when there are zero holes. His game kinda depends on a good blocking scheme.

He's still the best punt returner in the NFL. Yea, its a lot of money for a receiving back, but you have to factor in what elite KR/PR's make.....So i don't think its an overpay.

Now, you can ask if its worth paying that mostly due to the fact he returns punts at an elite level?

I thought the writing was on the wall for DT and would like to have seen them go younger. KPL or Kwiatkoski. The Cohen signing makes no sense at all. I can’t remember the last time he actually made an impact, and continues to make some of the dumbest decisions as a punt returner I’ve ever seen

From 2018 to 2019, he had half the yards (receiving and rushing) and dropped significantly in YPC and YPR. That's a small sample size, but a downward trend. Also, respectfully, I disagree. The eye test for me showed a less dynamic player. If the goalposts were sidelines, Tarik would have been a hall of famer in 2019.

Kudos to you then, definitely. I was happy they re-signed DT until this season. Guess that's why I'm relegated to a dude on the spectrum, sweating and pounding on a keyboard in a dank basement somewhere while the real GMs get dat $. :D

Hate to say it, but if I'm Arob, I bounce and hit up another team in free agency. I think another team pays him 20M a year and probably doesn't have the inconsistency at QB like we do here. Given he's obviously disenchanted with the way his contract was handled, I wouldn't blame him.

He actually had more rushes up the middle than the sidelines, but okay.

Like I said, judging him based on last year is unfair. This oline was putrid, and still is.

You can't ask a scat back to run like a power back. It's not his game. He needs holes, they didn't provide it. I think he's a good talent. I wouldn't have paid him, but I understand the signing. Elite PR's are hard to come by also.

This is what surprises me about the bears.

They don't mind paying him 14.5M a year average after an ACL 3 years ago, which was one of the richest WR contracts, but now are arguing over 2M/yr on a very fair 18m/yr contract.

I'm starting to think Ryan Pace is actually Remydat, only explanation I could think of.

Adrian Amos will be a FA after GB moves on from him. So maybe a reunion is in the future??
