Just an FYI, almost every other team in the nfl will win a few more games
So what I'm saying is I don't THINK they will pick any HIGHER. I could be wrong. But this pick isn't in the 30s. Anything is possible.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Which doesn't mean it's not too much. Teams get desperate 2 hours before the trade deadline. Hopefully it works out for us. I don't think we'll know fully until midway through next year or the whole year to see how he plays and acts on and off the field.
Mooney is a comparable asset as Chase. Chase is probably slightly better because of his freakish size/speed combination.

My question is what would you think Mooney was worth before the deadline, with 1.5 years left on his RC contract?

You do realize the Bears 2nd rd pick is slotted at #12 currently, correct? When you keep saying top 5 2d round pick, that is just some made up thing in your head.
Do you think that the defense is going to be the 25-or-less or the 30+ defense that it has been parts of this season?

The defense has been all over the place this season. Do you think that it will be better after trading away their two defensive captains?

How many of those shootouts that will probably happen going forward will Fields be able to win?

Depending on the answer above, the Bears may be drafting top 5 or top 12.

Bears 2nd round pick is like 5 picks from the bottom of the first round. I didn’t say they gave up a first round pick I said they essentially gave up a first round pick in value.
Except it's not likely...at all. The bears lose just about every conceivable tie-breaker because of strength of schedule. To put it an other way, the bears could lose every single game the rest of the way and still not secure a top 5 pick. There's alot of bad to mediocre football teams this year.

and you can also say that they basically gave up a mid-second rounder for Claypool.

Adding or subtracting picks to what it actually will end up can make it a good or a bad trade.

No. Its 12. So essentially its NOT a 1st round pick.
Why are people complaining if the Bears essentially gave up the 25th pick (12 + the 13 picks to get to the 1st round) in the 2nd round to get Claypool?

That means that Claypool made the Bears a playoff team because they gave up the 25th pick in the 2023 draft to get him.

Not seeing the issue here in terms of all the whining about draft picks given up for a clear No 2 WR who still has the potential to be a No 1 if he matures.

There is not a WR in this draft more athletically gifted than Claypool other than perhaps QJ.

it will essentially be best player available...the point of the claypool trade was to give him more flexibility in the draft so really depends on how the board falls...my guess is a 3tech or LB is atop the wishlist
Poles already showed that LB is not a priority. Look for LBer after the first round.

I still can’t get over how much the Bears are going to miss Robert Quinn’s 1 sack.

I really like Mooney, but there is no comparison between Mooney and an uninjured Chase.

Chase is far, far better than Mooney.

Here's a great example (2014 draft)shown within the same draft multiple times within the first round how strength of schedule can bite you in the draft order.

1) Houston Texans, 2-14 (.559)
2) St. Louis Rams (via Washington 3)Redskins), 3-13 (.516)
4)Jacksonville Jaguars, 4-12 (.504)
5)Cleveland Browns, 4-12 (.516)
6)Oakland Raiders, 4-12 (.523)
7)Atlanta Falcons, 4-12 (.553)
8)Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4-12 (.574)
9)Minnesota Vikings, 5-10-1 (.512)
10)Buffalo Bills, 6-10 (.520)
11)Detroit Lions, 7-9 (.457)
12)Tennessee Titans, 7-9 (.504)
13)New York Giants, 7-9 (.520)
14)St. Louis Rams, 7-9 (.551)
15)Chicago Bears, 8-8 (.465)
16)Pittsburgh Steelers, 8-8 (.469)
17)Baltimore Ravens, 8-8 (.484) or Dallas 18)Cowboys, 8-8 (.484)
19)New York Jets, 8-8 (.488)
20)Miami Dolphins, 8-8 (.523)

5 teams finished 4-12. The difference between pick 4 and pick 8. That's massive in terms of value.

3 teams finished 7-9. The difference between pick 12 and 14.

And 6 teams finished 8-8. The difference between pick 15 and 20.

The bears as it stands now are on the bottom end of everyone of these scenarios and like the 2013 season, there's a lot of these types of teams this year.

I know Pringle returned kicks in KC so perhaps he does double duty on returns here.
Did he return punts? Returning kicks is infinitely easier than returning punts. Catching a punted ball, usually in traffic, is a tougher job. Add in the wind at Soldier Field and it's not an easy ask.
