Tyler Bray has spent most of his career on the practice squad.

Has Never started a game.

Has 1 career NFL pass and it was incomplete.

Bray is a bum.
You may be 100% correct about Bray, but unless you think a FA QB is going to win you a SB then you might as well go with a Bum as your Back-up in a year when to have limited picks and cap space.

I look at it like during the tough times (limited resources), do you buy cereal eggs and milk or do you buy beer and porno mags (I know a few of you will say beer:).

I'm saying go all in with Trubisky for the final year of his rookie contract, bring back Daniel or Bray (neither one will cost much) and use the picks and money you do have to buy cereal, eggs and milk.

I am not throwing away a season on Mitch struggling and not having a legit backup to step in and at least keep the car on the road.

We did that. It was called 2019.

If there were a QB HOF for "one & done's" Dalton would be 1st ballot

Bunch of reasons why this makes sense:

1). I think almost everyone can agree we need a litmus test for Nagy. Even his strongest supporters must have their doubts. You know what you get with Dalton, a C- quarterback, which should be enough for Nagy to work with if his system isn't shit. If Trubs beats him out that is kind of a win-win. If he doesn't, our season isn't sunk.

2). Our defense is probably going to be good again, we could get lucky and they could possibly be really good. We have a chance at the playoffs. Mitch could get hurt or have another bad season so we need a solid backup at a minimum.

3). He is probably the right level of backup to bring in. Not a 20+ million Bridgewater guy, or a Cousins, or somebody that locks us in long term cap-wise. This move technically gives Trubs a final chance to prove it and good insurance if he doesn't, but it doesn't tie us to an expensive long term QB either.

This all revolves around him being affordable of course. But I don't see the Andy Dalton market being super competitive.

Do you have insurance on your house? Car?

You should have insurance for your under performing QB.

I think he is saying he doesn't want to spend a lot on cut rate insurance.

Dalton is far from cut rate insurance. He is the definition of league average QB play.

I understand not wanting to bring in Foles at 16 million, that is a lot for a guy who had one magical run. But Dalton has been in 3 Pro Bowls and won 70+ NFL games.

He was worse than Trubisky last year and he had better weapons...

Trubisky is just a better option than Dalton.

The stats don't lie

What stats?

Dalton's career average, which includes last seasons turd, is close to the same as Trubisky's peak.

If the choice is really between Dalton or Foles you have to go Dalton

Putting aside the Mitch competency argument, we need a decent backup just due to injury. Mitch has missed games in both of the last 2 seasons due to injury.

I don't want Daniel or Bray starting a wild card game for us.

Are we playing golf?

A 87.8 passer rating is better than 95.4?

One had AJ Green his whole career the other had a 1 legged Allen Robinson

He was on a team that wasn't trying to win games.

They had a much better running game, they had a better TEs....our number one receiver edges out theirs but their number one did have back to back 1k seasons

1. Do I really need to point to our TEs vs theirs last year?

2. We did have a slightly better WR corps

3. Joe Mixon was averaging 4.1 yards a carry, Montgomery was averaging 3.6

On average Mixon face a stacked front 18.7% and a base front 39.6% and a nickel+ defense 41%

Montgomery face a stacked front 14.5% and base front 33.5% and nickel+ defense 51.7%

Over the last two years Trubisky was 99.7 passer rating rating QB when a single running back could manage 50 yards a game

So now please tell me that the running game didn't affect the Bears and how Trubisky had better weapons...

And no I am not absolving Trubisky for his faults.

Dalton had better support on offense and faced easier fronts to pass out of.

Alright. You've been bitching too long.

In what fuckin world do you think 2019 Mitch was ever going to be sat permanently? He legit had 1.5 seasons of experience coming into last year. You don't bench that person, well, idiot meatballs do(you're starting to act like one, btw)

Fuck the whining on here is pathetic.
