85 draft picks since 2010.

3 pro bowlers

17 players who started 2 seasons or more.

Without brady, he'd be a dumpster fire. Guaranteed.

He makes pace look like a genius.

When you're drafting 28th or lower every year, those numbers are not as bad as they would seem, plus, he often trades out of the 1st round for multiple lower round picks.

HC? Sure, this thread is about him as a GM.

That draft record is far and away the worst of any team in the NFL.

You are correct about his drafting. Not good.

But in his dual role as HC, he has taken that crap and won 6 SBs. How much of that was because of Brady can be debated, but he won 2 SBs without Brady carrying the team.

That is your key stat.

Belichick spent most of the last two decades playing this sort of "plug & play" style to building his roster. Other than sticking with Tom Brady, he treats the Pats like a house of cards to be blown apart every season.

It was surprisingly effective. Probably due to having unparalleled consistency at QB combined with a weak division and/or, arguably, a weak conference.

Take away Brady and add in surging young teams like the Chiefs & the Bills and Belichick's strategy did not work so well with the declining Newton & a laundry list of players that opted out of the season before it started.

A lot of those 17 players are not good players at all, either. They only started because they were drafted high. Only a minimal amount have started over those 2 years.

Like you said, it's all about brady.

Just shows this fanbase once you have QB figured out it masks a lot of your inefficiencies. People always asked if its BB or brady, but this year obv. shows it was brady. Even at 43 he's 2nd in yardage and 4th in TD's. Sure, the turnovers are higher, but thats due to arians being an idiot.

The drafting pre-2010 was pretty good. After that last year he took gronk it went heavily downhill.

There is a reason the average tenure of an S&P 500 CEO is 10 years(up from 7 years last decade). BB is just a terrible GM at this point.

If anything, this shows the heavy value of a QB. Tom Brady has kept them competitive for 2 decades when their GM was ass fucking the drafts year in and year out.

Trade up for wilson. Pray to god he's your version of rodgers. If he is, you're set for the next 15 years.

Well, there is a difference between having "QB figured out" and having the greatest football player of all time. Just saying.

Yeah, the guy with all of those SB rings makes the guy who drafted Mitch Trubisky over Watson and Mahomes and is about to be fired, look like a genius.

Msadows is actually a person who looks outside the bubble that is the chicago bears and isn't blinded by NFL stupid.

He realizes the hit rate in the FIRST ROUND is 50% for a starter, not just an elite player, but a starter.

Most of these GM's are grasping at straws. Sure, some of them are better at it than others, but a lot of it is also luck.

Cherry-picking only part of Belichick's record without context because Tom Brady had success? Let's forget BB was plugging and playing guys when injuries/money problems happened in 2010 and beyond because the system was set up.

Also like how you casually omit that Brady was protected with a HOF/All pro in Matt Light for a decade to one of the better LTs in football now in Nate Soldier before dropping a 1st round pick on another talented LT in Wynn--but who cares about protecting the QB? We just need some variety at QB because Foles/Mitch suck! Forget putting him in a position to succeed because we need to look at drafted guys without context!

If anything, this shows the heavy value of a QB. Tom Brady has kept them competitive for 2 decades when their GM was ass fucking the drafts year in and year out.

So blowing your wad draft-capital wise (now and future because even moving from ~10 to the top 5 wont cost just one 1st rounder) to reach on the flavor-of-the-month college QB whose only impressive win on the year is the #54 ranked NCAA defense in Boise State (amid a slew of cupcakes with worse defenses otherwise), only to half-ass the rest of the offense which A--is massively devoid of talent and about to lose its best playmaker, B--has no identity, and C--can't block anyone?

Aren't there threads piling up daily of wanting to get rid of the guy the bears have at GM now who literally just did that?

Nah, he drafted the greatest QB of all time. Without brady, he probably doesn't win a ring.

His drafting was pretty damn good his first decade there, since, it's been miserable and a big reason for their decline.
