I actually wouldn't mind a Bolland move. Shaw seems to have chemistry on the 3rd line with stalberg and Bickell. Worst case get a 2 C and put Bolland at 4c with Frolik and have 2 3rd lines

Ya, and then Kruger to first line and bench Toews :smug:

I wouldn't expect a whole lot to go down at this deadline. Could be some interesting trades if teams are willing to eat salary/cap (first year you can do that) but with the cap dropping next year I don't think we will see a whole lot of that.

Standings because of a shortened season are just going to kill this trade deadline. Hell, even the Sabres (13th place) are only 3 points out and the Lightning (14th place) are only 4 points out. Eastern Conference teams are the ones the Blackhawks are most likely to trade with...and even teams almost in dead last place in the conference are probably still thinking they have a chance (because sadly they do).

Cheap price. Good in faceoffs. Adds depth for center. Not a blockbuster, but I don't see what is wrong with this move either.

Stan made a move like this last year, and Q never used the guy

Handzus has a clear role though as a third or fourth line center and faceoff specialist. I guess I just don't see the downside with move. Hopefully there is another shoe to drop but the Blackhawks got someone that can help in a clear weakspot.

like icehog said...he probably will have really an effect that has zero influece on a game. if a guy is 45% on a 4th line and you improve to 55% the 10% swing does nil when adding toi and the line he is on. its a move and nothing more. you probably wont see him play much. the pressing need is a 2c and has been. giving up a 4th rounder still could have been used in another deal, and or specifically developing that player. the hawks basically gave up a pick for a "waiver" quality player.

playing him on the 3rd line is unacceptable. thats playing with poison. have you seen him skate? you want that against the top lines. if he goes he wont last there, just like stalberg as a top 6, just like carcillo on the top 3.

He can't provide what John Madden provided in 2010 though? Decent defense and a guy that can skate out there to take important faceoffs. Yes I want another top 6 forward and one with size would be nice. But those don't grow on trees unfortunately. I guess I just don't see the need to poo poo adding a guy that fills a role that is lacking on the team right now.

He does bring what madden brought, but now we have a couple guys who are out. Bolland/Shaw/Kruger are 2,3,4 C. I'd hate to split that 3rd line up with the nice chemistry they have, and now Kruger can go to the wing, but now you get into dresses and scratches of Mayers/Carcillo, guys who are suppose to be in and bring a physical presence and stand up for the team. I won't say this trade is good or bad yet, cause there could be more in the works, but I will prolly agree this is a good trade for a 4th C

I guess the bottom line is he an upgrade for fourth line center or not? If he is then that has some value because he can then take some important faceoffs and skate off like Madden would in the cup year. If not he becomes Brendan Morrison like Icehog suggested.
