I think we also have to remember he had Mack and Hicks taking up blocks and keeping him clean because they required a double team. He isnt gonna be running around like he was without those two up front.

Roquan is a piece, and he's in his prime. You will need talent to win in the NFL, so I say lock the boy down. I understand if he wants astronomical money though not doing so. If not, maybe you don't value the weakside LB role too much, trade him for a very legit WR. Maybe that's what you need to get better. If you trade him for draft picks, it says we are planning to suck this year. And it's banking on Poles ability to draft, and likely you get a player of lesser quality than Roquan.

Or Poles drafts again without a focus on developing Fields, giving him support. Let's say he takes "best player available" (which flies in the face of valuing or not valuing weakside LB). If he continues to flesh out areas not directly helping Fields, then in my opinion our window of success moves down the line. You need a good QB to win in this league, so invest in that. Its pure hubris to think you are doing it without a good QB, see: Bill Belichick the year after Brady.

It's a fine balance to "tank". You have to be certain tanking is not just some false hope. I sure hope Poles is in communication with Eberflus, and he has a clear idea what weapons he needs to make his defense sing. Because if we let Roquan go for a 3rd rounder... I think convincing this fanbase you're making a net positive move here is going to be tough

Explain why I should care about tackles. Or better yet link to anyone in the football world who isn't just some idiot on Twitter on why I should care about tackles.

It doesn't exist. It's not even an officially kept statistic. Statistics in football are already a dicey proposition, you want to put stock in one that isn't even verified and checked against?

Nah, no thanks.

Is anyone surprised?

He had difficulties with his first contract.

He’s negotiating for himself and fired a good agent.

Not sure why people are attacking the Bears? They usually take care of players well. But that doesn’t mean they need to cave into every players demands.

Anyways…. Stay or go I really don’t care. This team was bad with him and it’ll be bad without him. Nothing matters if Fields isn’t the guy. And he doesn’t play a position that helps Fields so again… who cares? I’d be much more upset if this was Mooney.
They usual take care of their players but this is a new Gm. One that argued with a 2nd rounder about guaranteed money in the 3rd year of his contract. You never know if this is gonna become the norm or not

It's not my job to entertain you. You know how to spell Pornhub. I have zero interest in trying to explain anything to you.

Also if Poles doesn't budge, next offseason subsequently becomes a major proving ground for him. What does he do with all that cap money to build a team? I can buy into the idea Poles is fighting for salary cap, and freedom to assemble a team. But my first evidence of him throwing around money comes from him trying to sign Obunjobi for 3yr/$40m? I'm not a cap expert, but still was a bit like what's the difference between him and these young guys. Same deal of why spend, and does he make you better? And then he ended up injured. It was a bad first look for a guy who's strategy seems to be boiling down to conserve money, build a roster, spend once you can compete

Right. This is about the level of response I expected. Go off and run along then, take your Special person stat with you. lmao.
Your track record of posting is what leads to said responses. It's really that simple.

On that note I'm actually glad you're back, as CCS does get stale. But I've been doing this too long to go tit for tat with those looking for reactions. There's plenty who are willing to engage though ?

My opinion. You have your opinion. I guess maybe I shouldn't say whining. To better summarize how I feel, I don't get mad one way or the other when millionaires argue with billionaires about money. However it turns out is however it turns out. My feelings about it end with how it affects my team. I just don't want the Bears to overpay for a player that isn't a game changer just because good player on a bad team. Good for whoever gets their way. I'm not mad one way or the other.
The bears haven't been holding on to their top players for a while now, and Poles shouldn't want it to seem like he's unwilling to pay top tier talent. Especially homegrown players that have performed to their expectations. Lowballing Roquan doesn't look good for the team either. Paying one of the best young LBs in the game as such isn't overpaying. And I'm not saying just give him what he wants, but letting him walk, but trading him for peanuts leaves the team in a perpetual rebuild. It's Ryan Pace making holes to fill all over again.

That's great to hear. CCS is patiently waiting for you to go off the rails again with one of your edge-lord takes. It's just a matter of time.
