People get that confused you can be good on a bad team if your team has an elite WR in his prime like Watson did but nothing like Fields got is almost impossible.
Idt it’s impossible to get production with mediocre wrs if at the least the team has a solid oline.

He is going to measure sub 6ft at the combine. He will still probably go as the first QB taken but he is not an elite prospect due to size.

The OP video does a great job of explaining what makes Bryce so unique. His ability to create time in the pocket and keep his eyes down field is Mahomes-esque. You can't really teach the skill that he has, and I've seen him on numerous occassions execute these magical type plays on critical downs when his team needs a play the most. So many gloss over the down and distance when watching the highlight tape. But when the pressure was on and his team desperatley needed a conversion, he responded time and time again.

Also, its mentioned multiple times that Bryce Young had an underwhelming supporting cast and was carrying the offense this past year. Yet, I've brought that up here and yet posters who don't watch college football gripe on me that, that can't be the case since he is at Bama. But it's true. And despite an underwhelming supporting cast and missing a game and a half, he still put up very good numbers.

Not being a homer here, but if Young goes to a team that can't protect him; he might die on field. Not everyone is a warrior like Justin Fields. And Young's size might get him hurt.
If the Bears have anything, they have one tough meditating SOB.

Tom Brady fell off due to his age just like Rodgers did this past year as well.
Tom Brady fell off more from losing Bruce Arians than he did his age.

Great qb's elevate the talent around them. We wouldn't know, we have not had one. Young's limitation to be one in the NFL will be his height.
Yeah man that makes a ton of sense and is certainly well thought out. I know starting linemen in the SEC are typically several feet shorter than the average height of starting linemen in the NFL

In the beginning of this video it talks about his numbers being down because he lost a lot of his supporting cast. Has Alabama even been outside a top ten recruiting class in the last decade? Yeah I'm positive I want a guy who's numbers slipped due to a lack of talent at ALABAMA seeing what he can do with Velus Jones Jr and the boys

DeMeco still has a lot of ties to Alabama and is in constant communication with Saban & Young. That’s his guy.

No doubt he put up impressive tape. He has NFL vision and poise. I agree the Alabama knock probably gets him more doubters than it should because Bama was not as talented as it usually is and also had some coaching issues.

Bama is still pretty loaded and in combination with Young being very undersized I do think he is a very good but not elite prospect.

I wouldn't choose Young or Fields because I like what Fields can become and has to become next season BUT I may choose Caleb Williams over Fields even with the USC QB curse.
What can Fields become? I don't think the RB thing would work out.

It's just especially unhelpful to Fields because every time you drop 5 or 6 back he should run.

The guy has to run against 8 man fronts.

Fields and Higgins and Monty and Claypool and KMET would ironically finally form the Nagy zebras everywhere dream offense.

That's alot of beef blocking down on your DBs every scramble.

I don't watch much college football, and don't really know shit about the guy.

That said, a hot take just watching the video is that he has a pretty low release for someone so short.

Brees was the same height, but he stood tall and released the ball high over the top most of the time.

Admittedly the first couple of clips on the vid above were him throwing with nobody even close to him, maybe that accounts for the 3/4 delivery.

6' is borderline- at that point release begins to really matter.
If he can release high in the pocket he should be good enough.
Brees didn't come out of box with that exaggerated high throwing motion. It's something he adopted after he had major shoulder surgery. He had 13 anchors put in to repair his separated shoulder and torn labrum.

And his game showed it early on.
The reason it wasn't a big topic of conversation at the time was who he replaced... Doug flutie. It seemed every other pass was batted back in to fluties face.

He got better at it the last couple seasons in SD though.
