Santos was actually accurate.

Not, the ball wobbled a lot but still made it thru accurate. Actually accurate.

Hopefully it continues.

Agreed.

I was listening to espn 1000 on the ride back home and people were actually complaining that we are prioritizing re-signing our kicker over other things.

Almost like people forgot 2018.

Hope Santos does well. I know our cap situation is tight but without a reliable kicker you get stuck in another parkey situation.

Do we end up keeping the whole ST stable together? Mega punt has been quite consistent from the eye test.. no stats to back this up

Yeah totally expecting eddy to sign with vikings and become a hof kicker now.

but there’s no way bears could choose him over santos after last year.

I know it's nice to have the kicker position locked down, but with it being such a mentally finicky position is anyone worried about how many times he's been cut from an NFL team? I mean, his 2020 season with the Bears looks more like the anomaly than what to expect:

Not really. Hes been extremely good when healthy. Poor play has actually been the outlier for him

Didn’t we cut Gould over this kind of money?
love Gould but to be completely fair, and i dont remember how much money he was making, but he was trending downward.

Gould had a down year where the stats looked ok, but the misses were mostly during the 2nd half of the year and he was making over 4 mil a year

Most cuts have come after he was injured, that's the big thing, if he stays healthy he will be good
That may be the case, but then doesn't it mean his history suggests he's injury prone?

I'm not trying to be a negative nelly, but I didn't see this coming because I never thought it made sense. Sign him to a one or two year deal, but a 5 year for $16M? Then again, I don't know the terms of the deal, so it could easily be reported as one thing, but actually be another.

With that being said the $3.2M/season ($16M/5years) isn't much, but Tucker is the highest paid at $5M. Hell, Gould is just a slight be above what the reported numbers are.

Like has been said, he had a bad hip injury which is the only reason he ever got cut from KC. All the subsequent cuts were him not being fully recovered from the hip surgery. I don't really like paying kickers, but it's probably fine. I wouldn't expect him to continue to make 94% of his kicks though. He'll probably settle around league average in the mid 80s, which could be had for cheaper, but it's likely to be fine.

I probably wouldn't pay O'Donnell though. This is actually a pretty decent draft for punters. I'd just pick a guy and get cheap production there.
