Add anyone you would like, I may be missing some very obvious candidates. Personally, I think that Pace is not going to go with a coach like Shanahan or Ryan because they come with too much baggage and would be competing for power within Halas Hall. Now I could see ex head coaches as coordinators looking for their next big break as coach in the league.

If I were to choose, I'd like something like:

Greg Roman HC
Dennis Allen DC
Rob Chudzinski OC

or

Dan Quinn HC
Mike Singletary DC
Scott Linehan

Not that these would be my candidates, but it would be a good mix of youth and experience.

What kind of coaching group would you assemble?

I like bumpers and whiskey.

No thoughts. Same retreads. Take the coaches that the media says we should have? Hopefully Pace has some guys in mind.....not CFL guys, but guys in the nfl or college with some good experience.

Anyways 3rd post. Hello everyone!

Posts like this feel pointless, because we have no freaking clue who the Bears favor, and there are zero hot candidates out there really.

Josh McDaniels
Gary Kubiak
Wade Phillips!

I actually hope that whomever is hired, that somehow Wade Phillips somehow finds his way to Chi Town as our DC - that or Marinelli for another DC stint since his contract with the Cowboys ended.

Those really are the only 2 coaches I have any strong feelings about.

Are cowboys thinking of letting him go?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Ohio Bobcats
You know, I have said it before, and after some time still consider it a good idea: Promote Hoke to DC. He has been a good coach for us, Lovie Smith really liked him too. As a DB coach, he would want to get the most pressure possible out of the DL like he got in the Lovie Smith years. Fuller had a good rookie year, going back to letting the DL attack the QB would make him look like a star.

Such a system really fits the talent we currently have under contract. Jared Allen still gives a lot of effort, Willie Young did well before his injury, and we have a lot of talented DTs. This looks like a good year for MLBs too, which would allow us to slide Bostic to WLB.

My ideal coacahing staff would promote Hoke to DC, hire Kubiak for HC and Kyle Shanahan for OC. Kubiak relied on a good running game with efficient passes, and Shanahan got a lot of production featuring rookie RBs with no talent at WR most of the year.

I am really curious to see what other candidates Pace has lined up. So far, Quinn + Gase + Bowles have all been interviewed and Austin is due up on Monday, correct? There has gotta to be more a few more guys he has in mind.

Preferably, I would love to have a strong defensive minded coach but I am done speculating who it will be, I am just going to put all my faith in Pace and trust he'll pick the best head coach out there.

Josh McDaniels is a disaster as head coach. It will be more of the same.

The Bears need to avoid knee jerk crap like so many people suggest, like feeling they must go with a defensive minded coach because their D was bad, etc. Maybe a def guy will be OK, but it is not necessary the HC be a D guy. Actually, in today's NFL, it helps to have a guy who is aware the league is changing. (or has changed)

They need a guy who can be the CEO of the team. Handle personalities, conflicts, discipline, media, management. A guy who hires good coordinators, and manages the whole picture. Not a guy who will come in and concentrate on HIS side of the ball.

For all people complain about Lovie, he was excellent at keeping the players in line, keeping matters in house (in the locker room), etc. He had poor coordinators, but he wasn't afraid to move a guy out when it didn't work. When a player wasn't getting the job done, we heard very little about the guy, nobody got thrown under the bus or discussed in public. The guy would just be cut and we'd move on.

As we are all too painfully aware, his blind spot was offense. He was a D guy, and that's all that seemed to matter.

I want a guy who manages the team.

Look at Pete Carroll, for example. I get no feel watching his team that he focuses on one side of the ball, or fails to see the big picture, etc.

There are some really good coordinators whose game planning is intelligent. If one of them has the right qualities for a HC, fine. But do NOT hire as HC the guy who is best at game planning his side of the ball, unless he also happens to be the guy who is best for managing the whole package.

The most clever OC or DC in the world is not what we need as HC. They are what we need as OC and DC.
