AAA is not considered the big stepping stone. Its AA. He has things to work on just like all players but his start is not indicative of anything.
I'll disagree.
Each step has it's challenges. But the big difference is AAA is a back up squad for most MLB teams. Which means teams stock pile 2nd and 3rd tier players for injury purposes. This most have been up and down for 10+ years catching gigs.
AA is more so the final weeding of buster talent. They all lack MLB exposure but they survived the cuts.
It is apples to oranges. AA is untested but in general more potential. AAA is more experience but lower ceilings.
That is why success vs AAA means more than AA. Davis train wrecked pitching and now he can't break .200? These pitchers see hot sticks for years and know how to read and exploit. It is up to Davis to learn what they are doing to him and close his holes.
