Montgomery has been getting a pass because of the line but someone like Matt Forte spent most of his career behind bad lines and still made yards. He looks small and slow, he can make one guy miss but then doesn’t have either the speed or size and brute strength to turn that into a gain.

I don't think you can judge him yet. Given that he's also costing us virtually no money and he has 2 years left on his deal and RB is roughly 8th on our list of priorities after...

GM
HC
OC
QB
LT
RT
RG
WR

...I'm not going to worry too much about upgrading RB.

Montgomery would be fine with a line that blocked, and a playcaller that actually wanted to run the ball, and knew how to.

Montgomery is fine. He's a guy you let play out his rookie contract and go find another RB. Worst thing for this team would be a Derrick Henry type you have to pay 12Mil to keep around long-term.

I think he dances too much. He does have the quickness to get more yards after juking around.

I wanted to like Montgomery, but I think we cut Jordan Howard and turned around and drafted another Jordan Howard, who perhaps catches a little better.

Edit: Well, probably a trade off. Howard was better in short yardage, so that probably negates Monty's pass catching.

I like Monty alot, but as I said in another thread I don’t think he’s anything special. Great change of pace back I think he’d do really well on a team with two backs and a line that can actually block.

Yep, pretty much this. Either way, it is such a long way down our list of problems right now. If he plays out his rookie contract and leaves, it wouldn't be a big deal.

he Is just too slow in finding the hole when it is there, not many holes. I think Montgomery is a backup RB in the NFL. Bears needed a better player at the position. I hope he is out next week. I would rather see others play, particularly Pierce.

He could be a good backup for somebody, but I don't think he'd be starting on many other teams around the league. Bad OL or not, his speed, agility, and vision are not on par with the good RB's in this league. This offense would be better with a Raheem Mostert type who can blow by people in the open field and get explosive plays, not a plodder.
