Do you give Fields entire year if he does not improve?

Fields will get hurt at some point this season. It will be interesting to see if the offense looks any different without him out there.

I get leaving Fields in to see what you have in him. Its pointless to switch him out this year. But people saying he's better than Simien are delusional. What has Fields done in his NFL career to make you believe hes better than any QB in the league. Fields is the worst starting qb in the NFL and has done nothing yet to show he deserves his spot other than his draft position keeping him as starter.

Holy fuck. Lots of dumb shit in here. Fields has been absolute shit. So has the rest of the team. None of the other qbs are worth playing for a team going nowhere. Please save the 2-1 responses for someone that gives a shit. This entire team sucks and should be shot into orbit
Funny stuff. This totally shit team is tied for first place. A very young team with a very young quarterback and one who will have over $100M cap room and a full draft next season. I take their future as being an excellent one.

I would have benched him today, not for the season no. They've invested too much, let him ride the season bad/good or whatever and you'll see what you need for 2023.

He deserved it, but the media narrative would’ve been too much to handle for him and the coaching staff. They won in spite of him today. But honestly, if he’s playing like this for another game or two, they gotta do something otherwise they will lose the entire team.

Not spending money still doesn’t excuse Fields from missing wide open WRs and throwing a pic every game. Sitting in a clean pocket and running into sacks.

It definitely does. You can't bring a rookie into this type of offense and expect them to learn anything good.
We've been doing this same damn thing 36 years! Why do you think it's going to suddenly work next time?

If he's that weak mentally then he shouldn't be playing. He admitted he played like ass., I am sure he is aware.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to convey here.

Need to just double down on Fields. And fuck, coaches need to make a gameplan that isn’t just running 45x until Giants stuff it up and 3rd and 8 Fields gets to try his 3rd pass of the night. Garbage. Call some slants, quick passes, no huddle, rollouts, fields play action runs

So he’s involved in everything, a part of everything. Anything but another 8/17. He should have 8 completions by first quarter. 12 minimum by half. This is a confidence and commitment thing

Lol our offense is actually pretty tight considering we can't throw a football. We literally had 281 rushing yards.

To answer OP - definitely have to give Justin the year to develop and hopefully improve.

Give him a legit #1 receiver like virtually every young QB who became good had. Which means you’re going to have to give him this season AND all of next season because Poles wanted Gordon instead of using that pick on a wr or trading it for a wr

Hell no. If he holds the team back, that just means a better pick next year. Then they can possibly find a trade partner and get an extra 1st rounder for the following year. That’s when they can get the next QB.

Not if he keeps playing like this I dont.. he is averaging 50% of his passes and LESS then 100 yards per game! at some point you have to cut your losses and start evaluating the rest of the offensive talent.

Of course, what's the point in playing Trevor? At least he gets more experience and has the chance to improve.

Nope. If fields shows nothing this year, it's time to move on. QBs don't generally become great after having as much playing time as fields will have at the end of this season, barring injury.
By your logic the Bills should have a different QB

Who will also be bad because of a lack of talent around him when he's a rookie.
But maybe we'll get lucky in year 37 of this BS.

There isn't another QB on the roster worth developing. Fields will get it, or he won't, if he is still playing like this at the end of the year we are likely in line for a early first round pick. Not every game will be against the Texans.

I like fields, I think he has the athletic ability to be great. He is still struggling the speed of the NFL and is showing no improvement, I think he did better in that regard at times last season. That is very worrying.

But there is no reason to not give him this season, unless there is a QB you think you can trade for (which I doubt.)

Part of the problem I think is on the play calling though. I get running the ball when it is working, but Fields hasn't really been given a chance to find a rhythm. You need to win games (that is what they get paid to do), you need to give you defense a chance to rest. But you need to give Fields a chance to prove if he can do it or not.

The whole premise of the thread was questioning whether to give Fields the whole season, which is a no-brainer and a ridiculous question, so it shouldn't be surprising there's stupid in here.

The record is not the important thing. But this has to be a full season audition. He won't get better sitting on the bench, so you play him and see what he's got. He may improve, he may not. You hope he settles the question one way or another whether you've got a guy to build around.

But any way you slice it, you need the answer to that question.

The one thing you can not do is replace him with a backup and keep wondering.
