That’s true but when QB’s are considered to be more of a sure thing at the top of the draft, the trades to move up are usually a lot more draft capital expensive. DeSchlong Watson & Mahomes were completely misjudged… until DeSchlong turned into a fucking creep.
Do you have another example of a deal where a team moved up from 3 to 2 for a QB?

I mean, I think 2021 shows that's not necessarily true. The Niners just traded three 1sts for a dude who had like 14 starts at the FCS level that almost all came a year and a half before the draft. He was as unsure a thing as there could be.

I’d be looking at compensation like the sea scenario at a minimum. This years 1/2 + next years 1

This was the wentz trade up in 2016

The Eagles get: The No. 2 pick in 2016 and a 2017 fourth-round pick.

The Browns get: The No. 8 pick in 2016, the No. 77 pick (third round) in 2016, the No. 100 pick (fourth round) in 2016, a 2017 first-rounder and a 2018 second-rounder.

That’s a significantly less return than the trades in the OP.

Packers need their picks. They won't be able to afford anything else.

For one, I don't see GB likely to trade up for a QB, and they wouldn't give up that haul for a non QB, so that's not worth talking about. They'll at least give Love a year before they give up on him, if Rodgers indeed ends up retiring.

Just going by the numbers, it's more likely that Detroit gets a bust or just a decent QB (Jared Goff 2.0) than they would get a game breaker. So considering the value we could get from them, I do that in a heartbeat. You still get to draft whoever you wanted by just moving down one spot and grab another 1st and 2nd for the not-trouble. No brainer.

The Seattle trade is a no-brainer as well. Trade down two spots from the 1st, still possibly in position to get who you were going to take anyway, grab another first and second, along with a trade up 6 spots in the 2nd. Oh, and another 1st next year. That'd be a dream come true.

I play with that mock draft simulator a lot too, but I think it really overvalues higher picks. For example, when the bears traded for Mitch from 3 to 2, they didn’t give up anywhere near another first round pick. I forget what they gave up but I think it was a couple thirds and a fourth.

They gave up a 3rd and 4th round pick in 2017 and a 3rd pick in 2018

If the Seattle trade could be pulled off, and we wind up with Jalen Carter, and Tyree Wilson, the D will be much improved.

So running the PFN draft simulator, it has offered some interesting trade scenarios. Which raises some questions of what would you do facing these scenarios.

View attachment 24426 Do you trade within the division to drop one spot but pick up an additional mid 1st and 2nd, but allow Det to get a QB?

View attachment 24428Do you trade with the Packers for a huge haul after the first 2 QB's are gone? PFN had them trade all this for WR Quentin Johnston WR TCU.

View attachment 24427Here is my favorite scenario.
Lions easily cuz you know they're going QB and you'll be getting will Anderson and a WR or Oline at 13 shit you can probably trade back from 13 and pick up another 2nd rounder if you think there is still enough talent.

PS: Hmm I missed the next year first rounder lol for the Seattle trade fuck I'd probably take that one and hope Anderson still drops to us lol.

Detroit will already have the #1 pick, courtesy of the LA Rams. They don’t need the Bears.

That mock draft simulator (ProFootballNetwork) feeds off the excitement of lopsided deals to keep people using it and rake in money off their pop ups that are strategically placed to get accidental clicks.

There’s a reason why using that specific simulator always generates everyone’s favorite outcomes. I just did one and got:

Myles Murphy - DE
Jaxon Smith-Njiba- WR
Cedric Tillman - WR
Andre Carter II - DE
Sedrick Van Pran - C
Mazi Smith - DT
Brandon Joseph - FS
Jaquelin Roy - DT
Andrew Vorhees - G/T
Malachi Moore - FS
Trey Dean III - SS
+ 2024 1st (GB)
+ 2024 1st (NE)
+ 2024 2nd (WAS)
+ 2024 3rd (IND)
+ 2024 4th (GB)

That’s flat out ridiculous.
