Trade #20, Jaylon Johnson,2022 2nd Rd and Akiem Hicks to LV for Carr, Then use the $10M saved on Hicks to sign Watt to a 3 yr $33M ($24M guaranteed)contract?
$12M SB
$4M 2021 Cap# $8M
$8M 2022 Cap# $12M ($8M to cut)
$9M 2023 (non guaranteed) Cap# $13M ( $4M to cut)

Losing Jaylon would suck. I'd also rather see that cap space going towards resigning ARob.

IDK why Jaylon needs to be in this deal. Raiders just draft CBs early each of the last 2 years, including last year over Jaylon. I'd probably still consider it as any deal where you can get a QB and only lose 1 top 3 pick this year and not lose a 1st next year would be ideal. But I don't LOVE Carr. He's good, but I think he's near his ceiling and I don't see him as a guy leading the Bears to a Superbowl in all honesty.

Raiders won’t trade Carr unless they got a deal in place to move up the draft with 2 1st round picks to get a QB to replace him with. That might not happen until draft night and I don’t think Pace will wait that long.

So you make the secondary worse, you sign an injury prone guy with his best years behind him and get another average QB for a bigger price tag.

Just curious, how does this makes the Bears better?

Carr has been a top 10 QB the last 2 years. If the Bears had an average QB the last 2 years, they probably have 3 straight 10-win seasons and a couple playoff wins. Are we really still questioning how average QB play would make this team better?

What value does a one year(contract) 31 year old Hicks(UFA 2022) hold for the Raiders? The only way this makes sense for them if they are trying to accumulate picks and make a run at Watson and think they have a shot this year.

How are you "saving" any money if you take on Carr's 20 mil contract, and then dump Hicks @ a 10.5 cap hit? That is a net loss of cap space of 8.5 mil.

Your much better off addressing the WR position or O-line then signing Watt.

I think Jaylon is almost untradeable to the extent of if you hold him one more year, he can replace Fuller, or at the very least appreciate greatly in value. Be better of throwing Monty in that deal, saying hell to the no on signing Watt, and then yes. At least your not crippled moving forward, and Carr should still hold some value next year if a new GM steps in and wants to tear it down. If Wentz steps in, and has another shit year, he would hold zero trade value in 2022.

Carr has been a top 10 QB the last 2 years.

He has? By what metric? Rating? You think his low air yards inflate his completion percentage and therefore inflate his rating?

Passer rating, yards per attempt, DVOA, by almost every metric he's been a top 10 QB the last 2 years. His air yards are similar to Patrick Mahomes

Derek Carr is not Aaron Rodgers, Pat Mahomes, or Tom Brady. Obviously.

But using the fact that he isn't as a reason to not trade for a guy who IS better than the QB on at least 24 other teams and can stabilize the position in a manner never seen in a Bears uniform since it Sid Luckman, and likely break every single quarterback record the Bears own in the process to me is the height and pinnacle of utter meatball lunacy.

Not every team has a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Carr is good enough with our current team to win playoff games. THAT is the measuring stick we should be using.

If after trading for him the Bears want to still see if they can draft a future Hall of Fame quarterback then they can knock themselves out. But how about we get the position stabilized first?
