Not at all. I have gotten past unit 1 in 16. Have only finished 1 tree

@Briggs is GOAT rus adopted a lot of its alphabet/language and scripture in the old Slavonic times from greece (or the ottomans)

If you want to get to B1 or B2 the Michel Thomas tapes and Assimil courses can you get you there. Especially if you have some foundation to work from. Thomas especially will teach you like ninety percent of French grammar and you won't forget it.

As for Russian, I learned the value of knowing the Cyrillic alphabet when I was dumbfounded by the english-language Belgrade bus guide which said I had to take bus "L24" (I forget the exact number) and took about a half hour to realize that no such bus existed and I should've been looking for Л24.
