I'm fine with Fields continuing to start, but I have an issue with what happened on Sunday. In his postgame presser, someone asked Nagy if he considered putting Dalton in at any point, when it was obvious that Fields wasn't getting time to do anything constructive. He said that it never crossed his mind. That can be taken a couple of ways. First, he left Fields in so that he could learn, and that's valid. But, I also think that part of his thinking is that he was forced to name Fields QB1. He wanted Dalton in that role, not Fields. Knowing how stubborn he is, and how he thinks he's smarter than everyone else in the room, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he left Fields in to show those who forced him to play Fields how unready he is to be QB1. If Fields gets killed or suffers a season or career ending injury in process, so be it. I think that he needs to prove that he was right, and they're all wrong. In his mind, I think Nagy has a vision of Fields failing so spectacularly that fans and management acknowledge that Dalton is the one true QB1, and that he will be able to restore him to his rightful place once everyone realizes that Nagy always knew better than them.
