Do we need an upgrade at RB? Nah
Would it be nice to have one? Sure

Lets draft one in the 2nd round!

This is the Matt Millen method of drafting, boys.

Or it is just drafting BPA. If Taylor is graded out by Pace as the 15th best prospect in draft and is available after a trade down then while I may not be in love with the idea, it is a fair position to take. You seem fixated on this idea that there is only one path for the Bears this draft.

Some of you really need to look up the difference between luxury and necessity.
You really have become king of all parrots. Not sure if it's because you can't remember your posts from day to day of you just enjoy repeating yourself across multiple threads. Both are disturbing regardless.

Lol if Jonathan Taylor got to play Kansas, Kansas St, TCU, Texas Tech etc he’d run for 3000 yards on the reg instead of 2000.

TCU played the vaunted Wisconsin Badgers with JJ Watt and laughed all the way back to Fort Worth after beating them in the Rose Bowl. It would be hilarious if those fat Midwestern kids came down to TCU and played them in the heat of September in Texas.

However, I like Taylor as a prospect. He’s a great kid and he’s extremely productive. Plus, he ran in the 4.3s.

Jonathon Taylor would be a no brainer at 43 if he is still there.

Think this is all a moot point because I doubt Taylor is actually available at 43 come draft day(s). Bears would be crazy to pass up on that value pick if he was there, but realistically there are 4-5 other positions you hope to see a 1st round talent fall to you before RB. Still, if that player is Taylor you take him.

Also, I drafted a G and T as well in that mock. I'm not saying I want a RB, especially in the 2nd Round...I just saw that and was intrigued cause not ONE person has brought up an early pick on a RB
Backfield definitely needs more speed. Cohen has it but only runs horizontally and outside the tackles

If it came down to a choice between Taylor or Dobbins, it better be Dobbins !!!

fine with me, A better running game this year will make the Bears a playoff team. I ran a few simulation mock drafts, I also see Eason available in the second round.

Well, they aren't needs.

Those positions aren't in the top 5 biggest holes for this roster, so yea, they aren't needs.

S, CB#2, RG, RT, QB are needs.

WR is somewhat of a need since Miller keeps getting hurt and the rest of the roster is unproven.

RB is only a need because Monty doesn't run sexy enough for some.

Toliver and Bush have shown more than Ridley.

So why is CB2 and S more of a need than WR?

This would be a homerun draft. Period. No argument allowed.

Jonathan Taylor is my favorite offensive weapon in the draft. I would be dancing in circles if he was available and we took him.
Too many miles on him for a rookie. Dude was used and abused

Bears Current WR Core

1. Really Good
2. Shoulder Surgery (#2)
3. 6 catches last year
4. Kick returner
5. Career backup (Wims)

Our offense sucks, but let’s not add to this group.

If I am being honest, you are BY FAR the dumbest poster on CCS.

Let me educate you. Jonathan Taylor’s career YPC in college was 2 yards more than Montgomery. Montgomery had a season where he averaged 4.3 YPC in the fucking Big 12 aka the shittiest defensive conference in the NFL. Taylor did his work in the Big 10.

Montgomery is trash and will always be trash.

Btw, you can suck my dick.
You moved passed Halftime as the dumbest poster in here. Go fucking educate yourself asshole. Learn why Taylor had a YPC of 2 yards more. The stupid idiots in this group are baffling.

Because he’s twice the player.

Hey, you know how Montgomery ended up at Iowa State instead of a competitive D1 college football program? Because his high school oline held him back too. It has nothing to do with his limited running ability.

Trust me, I get it. All those 1st and 2nd round elite defenders that come out of defensive power houses Kansas, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and the rest of the Big 12 were just too much to overcome.

They need offensive line help way more than they need another RB. I know both sides played a part in the debacle. The line was bad, but so were the RB’s. I think there’s a better chance the RB play improves with a better o-line than a new running back making the line look better though.

I’m not sold on Montgomery at all. I’d be happy for him to prove me wrong. Watching him in games though, he’s nothing special. His ceiling is suitable NFL RB. That being said, I’m still going o-line all day before RB.

As far as RBs, I tend to prefer Gibson in the 70-100 range or Dillion in the 110-150 range. This presumes we traded down.

Otherwise, Selo, Darius Anderson, Josh Kelly, or Reggie Corbin in late 6 round or 7th round if I didn't acquire enough picks to get one of Dillion or Gibson.

In scenarios where I trade down and end up with 3 top 100 picks and then 4 in top 150, I usually end up with WR, OT, and Gibson. If I get only 2 top 100 and 4 in top 150 then it's usually WR, OT in top 100 and then OG and one of Dillion/Duvernay/Albert O. I usually end up using 163 to find my S.

5 or more draft picks in top 150 and then I add getting an Edge/S/CB somewhere in there. Occasionally the draft falls in such a way that you can get a LT, RT and RG You can basically getting a starting RT/LT up to about around pick 100 and a starting RG up to around 150.

Holy crap that's a lot of players. It's actually too many players but you got some guys at great spots in the draft.

J.Jackson and Chinn in the 3rd.
J.Hurts, A.Gandy Golden, M.Peart and K'Von Wallace in the 4th.
G.Davis in the 5th is great value.
I would of taken a better RB earlier but i do like J.Robinson in the 6th.

But we need a RB to backup Monty regardless of if Monty is good or great or not cause Cohen isn't a true RB and if you think there's a chance that Monty isn't gonna be a good RB then we definitely need another true RB to take over for him or the season will be lost.
