I didn't wanna be a lazy OP so I checked. Mitch is a 1 mil cap hit with 150,000 guaranteed. So 850,000 of his 1 million could have went to an upgrade.

I'm not saying Francois isn't an upgrade over Mitch, but they both avg 2 tackles per game last yr. Mitch 14 games (26T) 1 sack, and Francois 16 games (32T) 1.5 sacks. Francois is a year older. I don't know their snap totals, but that doesn't appear to be much of a difference.

Anyway, we didn't need to ax Unrein to sign Francois. I would imagine Pace told Francois to give him a chance to match or beat the offer, and it's just Francois would much rather play with the Packers over the Bears... the guy's 30 yr old.
