Didn't his dad crown Hjammer as the next Lidstrom? Granted Hjammer was a defensive stud even though he didnct have much O.
Hammer was special, and as you said a stud for this franchise when he was here. His intangibles were far more superior than Mitchell, however Mitchell is a Hawk and I hope for the best, at the same time, I hope the team gives him the time to develop and not ship him of like the Joker.

See...Detroit can kill us at the dot and still not turn the tables...but most teams have an advantage right there.

Even with the goalie difference we can split this team or better. They are truly one of the worst teams to ever happen to the NHL, but we aren't much better. So lucky for us to have each other in a year like this.

Stan pretty much crowned him the next Lidstrom so hopefully he can live up to at least a quarter of Lidstroms abilities. Hopefully with all due respect he flourishes and becomes a mainstay with the Hawks, god knows this team needs some solid defenders.

You know there is enough college tape of him to make pretty accurate predictions. He was overpowering at that level and considered a championship difference maker level player.

All I know is Hedman impacts the game like he's 8 players. Thats the best I see. He single handedly eliminates like 50% of attacks like Michael Myers is stealing pillowcases full of candy from elementary children on halloween(if you've never tried this...I don't care how old you are it never gets old to hear their cries)

Mitchell can be special. Got some wheels man
It all comes down to coaching, will he be developed to become a difference maker and or top 1-2, or like the majority of Hawks defensive prospects and rookies just become a regular 3-6 defender.

One of the reasons Hedman impacts the game like he's eight players is the fact that he's 6'6" 240bls. I like Mitchelle too but I saw him get knocked right off his skates goin' for two different plays Friday night. The kid can skate but spotin' every oncoming forechecker 30lbs or so ain't an easy chore game in,game out.

I 100% agree. I just think crowning someone "The next blah blah blah" is not a good thing to do--even if a true hockey genius does so. Hjammer was indeed a stud with how much he sacrificed his body for the 'hawks--even if he wasn't Lidstrom. Comparing Mitchell to him is worse.

That being said, I do agree that Mitchell shows some promise for what he is (with respect to his size), and seems to be learning from his mistakes--which is good. I do hope he has time to develop, and I hope he's given the right environment to develop (which, in my opinion, is not Stan or JC). Thankfully, he's not at risk of being poached by Seattle like Joker was.
