Timing a successful 'pinch' is a tough deal for a D-man with a handful of games under his belt and if he stays on his feet,he probably gets back......kid can skate. We all know a wing has to cover when a D-man pinches and Kane didn't get back but Kane ain't thinkin' defense when the team can't score and this Robinson kid's gonna do that to a bunch of guys.....he can fly!
Yep....that was a perfect storm against...we've discussed previously on the "old board" how long an NHL defenseman takes to develop, and it's around 200 games...I don't think Mitchell projects to a 1-2 D, but I think he has the pieces to be a solid 3-4 with decent offensive upside...it will be interesting to see how he progresses.

They say those 200 games are 100 these days Jim but Mitchell has some tools my friend,it's hard to say where he ends up. I wish he,Boqvist and Beaudin had more meat on their bones just to handle the rigors of the league but it looks like the game isn't as physical as it's been in the past so who knows.
Boqvist is a bit behind schedule and I haven't seen enough of Mitchell or Beaudin to have a schedule yet but I'll tell ya what.......I like this Carlsson kid's defense first approach,he might be a good stay at home guy for one of the skilled guys in the future.

Seems when we lose cause we gave up too many,it's Keith's fault and when we lose cause we don't score enough,it's Kane's fault. Guess they're the only two core members left to blame.
Maybe it actually is their fault and maybe both realize the team needs losses.

Really should have won, Columbus was living right. Soderberg should have had 2

Dunno if I want to see wins or even points much this year,I know we(me too)get caught up in wanting to see the boys win games and it's hard to program ourselves otherwise but......

Top three pick(S) plural will be needed to turn this around and that's IF we have the right guy to do it which I strongly doubt.
Still shoulda bought out de Haan IMO,nobody's gonna want him at the TDL with another full season left at 4.55M and it woulda cleared a space for Carlsson all year.......I like him as much as Mitchell, Boqvist or Beaudin right now but then again,he is 3yrs older, had two years in Rockford and has more meat on his bones. I see a young D-man who pays attention in his own end.

Even with the loss of JT and Dach,I'm still not sure we needed all the Marks bros and Soderberg, nothing against any of the three but a rebuilding team lookin' for a top three pick might want to see what Entwistle or Reese Johnson have to offer.

I F'n knew Lankinen STONNING Russian and Canadian teams loaded with NHL'ers in the WC two summers ago wasn't a fluke. The biggest stage the kid ever saw at that point and he opens the tourney with a 3-1 win against Canada and closes it out with a SHUTOUT of Russia in the semis and another 3-1 win against Canada in the finals and a 1.5GAA/.942sv% to go along with a couple of shutouts. Keven Lankinen is solid positionally, can battle when things are tight in front, track pucks through traffic and looks to have the necessary athleticism........he only gets better with NHL experience.

Joker was a stud for the Finns too!
The thing I want to see is development from the youth. As time goes on I want to see guys like Mitchell, Suter, Lankinen, etc. All be better than where they started out. If that means we win a bit or lose a bit, so be it.

That also means we need to be trying to rely on Keith and Kane less; not because they are bad (far from it), but because the kids need to develop.

The youth need the opportunity to fail and pick themselves back up and prove that they can learn from mistakes. I see that happening in some areas, but not others. Kane being run roughshod is a prime example.

Besides, if we lose out that just means better odds at the lottery, not a bonafied pick. We could be dead last and get the 4th overall pick if the Hockey Gods want to see us suffer.

Im done with Kane playing 25 min a game he is gased by mid 3rd. dress another forward and cut him back, again mixed signals thought we were looking at the kids ? skating the crap out of the 31 yr old and protecting the baby dman just dosent make sense. My 2 cents

Practice cancelled today due to COVID concerns... game tomorrow still on, but I wouldn't expect it to happen if anyone is positive.
