Give me the numbers you think other QB's would have put up here last year.

Not gonna read the rest of the thread, but heres by 4am drunk post:

This team had one of the worst olines in football, no te's, 1 WR, and no run game. Ohh, and an OC who is clueless as far as scheming.

I doubt anyone besides the elites would have succeeded. And yes, mahomes and watson are part of the "elites" group for those bitchboys who cry about us not drafting them.

Hard to have a succesful qb when every team plays nickel/dime against you because you cant run the ball against a 4 man front.

Mitch is not good enough. Dalton is not good enough. Keenum is not good enough. Insert any average qb, they aren't good enough.

This offense is god awful, and mitch is just a scapegoat. Yes, he's not very good, but the unit around him is just as bad or not worse. Like I've said before, you can list at least 5 starters on this unit worse than him this past year. That is not okay.

I'm sure we can agree...there're other Qb's out there who don't have substandard units around them, yet they find a way to lift the "O". So should we not hold our Qb to somewhat of the same standard? At what point does lifting those around one
come into the conversation?

Does anyone remember when Mahomes was counting on his fingers the number where he was drafted as a way to show those teams were wrong for not to drafting him higher? I've seen interviews where Watson talks about always believing he can make a big PLAY and win.

Here's my point.....Qb's like these will do well where ever they land, bcuz they play like they have something prove.
They almost play ( with a chip on their shoulder) as though they have something to prove to all the naysayers.
Brady, Wilson, Jackson all have this in common. They're out to prove that the naysayers were all wrong.

Agreed, they all have the "IT" factor and have leadership abilities which their teammates can sense and feed off of in the huddle.

Meanwhile the Bears have this guy....

Watson threw for 4000 yards behind an O line worse than this one

Mahomes is throwing for 4000 yards on any team

Trubisky would’ve thrown for 4000 yards too if he had even average accuracy and could read a defense

Watson's oline is not worse than this one....he had more time to throw and the running game was a lot better...Bears face a lot more nickel and dime defense because they had no running game.

In fact when Watson threw for 4k yards defense were not in nickel and dime much against him.

Brady: 1000yds. 6 TDs, 3 INTs, 2 concussions and a broken hand.

Mahomes and Watson both do lots better than Mitch but clearly worse than they did. I think what's more important is that Mitch would be clearly worse in their Os as well though likely look serviceable. He really needs to make a leap this year.

SMH! The OP is delusional.

Kept Clean
Mahomes - 6th in NFL with 110.6 QB rating
Wastson - 7th in NFL with 107.9 QB rating
Trubisky - 24th in NFL with a 93 QB rating.

The above is based on 27 QBs who qualify. So first point. Even when Trubisky had time he was one of the worst QBs in the NFL in terms of actually being successful. So even if you want to adjust Mahomes and Watson's numbers down a bit for their WR personnel, the simple reality is both are better at reading defenses and both would take advance of clean pockets better than Trubs.

Under Pressure
Mahomes - 3rd in NFL with 89.7 rating. Pressured on 28.3% of dropbacks
Watson - 10th in NFL with 76.6 rating. Pressured on 38.1% of dropbacks
Trubisky - 24th in NFL with 55.5 rating. Presurred on 32.3% of dropbacks

Trubisky once again is at the bottom of the list and Mahomes and Watson are at the top. The reality here is Mahomes is just several classes above Trubs and it is not close. The dude is elite in a clean pocket and he is elite when pressured. If he were in Chicago, the Bears would easily have made the playoffs and anyone that thinks otherwise is delusional.

As for Watson, he is still a close above Trubs. The fact is he faces more pressure than Trubs does and still does a better job of dealing with it. Even if you wanted to drop his rating a bit to adjust for Bears receivers, he would still be better.

Yes the Bears offense was bad. Yes Trubs didn't get much help from his RBs or OL. But even when he does, he still fucking sucks reading defenses and that is the biggest difference between Trubs and the other two. They can read defenses better. They understand how to play the QB position better. Even if you want to ignore the stats anyone watching the 3 play can see that Trubs struggles making basic reads in a way the other two don't.

He was actually pressured on 38.1% of dropbacks compared to only 32.3% for Trubs. Watson had the 7th highest pressure rate in NFL. Trubs was 18th highest and Mahomes was 26th. Again that is out of 27 QBs that had enough snaps to qualify.

in 2018 when Watson threw for 4k yards Lamar Miller was the running back. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry and faced nickel and dime defenses only 33.8% of the time.....that's ridiculous....Watson threw into stacked and base fronts and teams were not trying to stop Watson...They keyed on Miller....

in 2018 Deshaun Watson had over 3 seconds to throw the ball into easy defenses not designed to stop him....

Watson and Mahommes would both throw for 0 yards due to being the backup

Mitch is the starter don’t you know?!

Also if you want to look at time in pocket.

less to 2.5 seconds
Mahomes - 4th in NFL with 104.9 QB rating
Watson - 9th in NFL with 99.5 rating
Trubs - 24th in NFL with 86.5 rating

More than 2.5 seconds
Mahomes - 4th in NFL with 105.7 rating
Watson - 8th in NFL with 98.3 rating
Trubisky - 20th in NFL with 79.6 rating

So again the issue here is Trubs is simply not reading defenses. Doesn't matter if he has time or not He is at the bottom half of the NFL no matter what scenario you like it. He simply had a terrible fucking year and a lot of that is on him. Can't keep making excuses for the guy.

Yes better OL, RBs and WRs will help but he still needs to fix what happens between his ears because it is clear the dude is not getting it. Any success he has is largely because of his innate talent not because he has actually developed into a QB that can read defenses like Mahomes or Watson.

this is what the QB position does. 2017 Watson's rook year before he blew out his knee. Same O weapons, same coordinator, same head coach, same personnel

Watson, 6 starts, 19td 8int
Savage the veteran came in to replace Watson after injury, the offense tanked, Savage finished with 5td's and 6ints,

LOL

We all know that Trubisky is not as good as those guys, but they are in better situations than Trubisky.

In 2018, Watson was pressured on 44.7% of dropbacks so really not sure your point. The topic was about the OL not the run games. The fact is Watson has historically faced more pressure than Trubisky throughout their careers. He is just better at dealing with it.

In fact in 2018, Watson's 44.7% led the NFL but he also led the NFL in QB rating under pressure at 88.2. So what you have in Watson is a QB that has shown he can be one of the top QBs when faced with pressure. Trub's record under pressure is more spotty.

Yes they are but the OP is about how they would do here and it is pretty obvious they would still be better here because they actually don't fold up like a turtle into a shell when pressured. They actually can read defenses and understand how their offenses are suppose to work.

Are you honestly telling me you can't see that a large part of Trubs problem is he still struggles understanding the O and reading the D. Problems that Mahomes and Watson don't have to the same extent?

To put this simply. Watson and Mahomes are actually better than Trubs at dealing with adversity. That is why they would still be able to perform here. Trubs is an inexperienced QB still trying to figure out who he is. That is the issue with taking a guy with only 1 year of significant college experience.

am not talking about pressure with my last post. Am comparing the night and day difference in the offense once Watson went down that year. Savage was a veteran who had been in that same system for years. Watson was a rookie. Soon as Savage took over, the offense went down the shitter. Savage still had Lamar Miller to hand the ball off to. Still had Hopkins to throw too yet none of that mattered (Mitch will be in same boat)

Watson was pressured because he hung on to the ball a little longer...on average he had about .4 seconds more to throw the ball on every dropback....
