They've been wanting this Europe expansion for a while. London is already gift-wrapped it's just a matter of when.
Yeah, completely agree. At the VERY LEAST, there will be a London-based team in the very near future.

Maybe they even cluster their schedule so that they get 6 weeks in London, followed by 6 weeks in the States, and finishing with 6 weeks in London. They can basically base the team out of a location on the East Coast while they're on their 6-week U.S. trip.

I'm sure the NFL brass sees it as a win-win that the more European teams they add, the less they have to screw over whoever's based there and whoever has to travel there, because having those teams all play each other twice would necessitate less overseas travel to the U.S., and the more the NFL spreads its brand.

The travel is obviously the biggest bugaboo, but there are ways to lessen the impact, for sure.

A division makes the most sense from a travel perspective. They would have 12 games in Europe (6 division games and 6 other home games) leaving just 5 games in the US. That can be addressed with just 2 trips. One 2 game road trip and one 3 game road trip. Likewise, if say the NFC North is playing the Europe Division then can just have the Bears play the games back to back so they would just have one trip to Europe.
