Dont relly know much. But feels like everyone wanted Cam Collier. good pass or?

Cubs needed to start stocking up on plus arms. I believe the GM was with Cleveland and his track record is solid in aquiring top pitching talent.

At this point it is need vs getting a 3B that has the look of all star. A TOR still holds more value.

But as we have seen sense the turn over that pitching is the focus. Kumar might have been selected if he was there. Jed has already stocked up on position players. But before he would deplete to target pitching. The new GM is not of that mind set. He is filling the bank in arms and letting the pitching lab do the rest.

His fall back plan is probably getting a job if he doesn't make it as a pitcher.

Ya never know. But if he can hit then you don't close doors. But yes he has TOR upside.

Next topic is the deadline. There was a piece written on Contreras to the Mets for Brett Baty. 3B bats left. #20 prospect on MLB. seeing how they are all in and have the #2 prospect in baseball as a catcher. A rental is not a stretch for them.

Now Baty would be the core player to build around. He is currently at AA and I could see him being moved up to Iowa to finish up 2022 then brought up to take a look at MLB live. Jed tends to do this with close guys. Get a look then take that info into the off and close up their holes.

We can hope that they tank down to #3. This year should have been a white flag year anyways.

I just hope that next year is taken a bit more serious. Axe the AAAA. Trade away expiring guys. DFA Heyward and start fresh.

Bell, Gallo. That balances the line up. Move Morel to 2B and target Kramer for CF.

Rotation I don't expect much to be honest.

Starting Pitchers
Jacob deGrom, New York Mets – $30.5 million player option
Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies – $16 million club option
Joe Musgrove, San Diego Padres – 2023 free agent
Carlos Rodón, San Francisco Giants – $22.5 million player option
Nathan Eovaldi, Boston Red Sox – 2023 free agent
Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers
Chris Sale, Boston Red Sox –$27.5 million player option
Chris Bassitt, New York Mets – 2023 free agent
Noah Syndergaard, Los Angeles Angels – 2023 free agent
Luis Severino, New York Yankees – $15 million club option
Charlie Morton, Atlanta Braves – 2023 free agent
Adam Wainwright, St. Louis Cardinals –
Sonny Gray, Minnesota Twins – $12 million club option
You realize gallo sucks, right?

It was more about getting more bang for you buck. Collier got like $5 mil. Cubs saved like $550k vs the slot which effectively turns the 47th pick into the 33rd pick. Cubs also managed to save another $700k on top of that through later picks giving them $3 mil to toss at Ferris which is #23 pick money.

Ultimately it depends on how you view Collier vs Horton but if they are even marginally close it's a smart play because you're getting so much more with your second pick. If however you view Collier as a superstar that changes the approach.

Brooks Lee was the really tough pass here. He was arguably the best college player in the entire draft was definitely in the conversation at #1 because of his elite contact skills. FWIW, fangraphs already has Lee graded ahead of Brennan Davis.

Driving through southern Illinois yesterday and for some reason stopped at a casino. Won a little $ and while having dinner, took a peak at Fan Duel. Though I dislike betting on baseball (because it's insane to do so) I saw the Cubs were down 2-0 and SF was -2.5 runs.

So I decided to drop $20 on SF, and when I checked later, I saw our beloved pigfuckers decided to score just enough to not win, and to fuck up my bet.

They're special, this group!

I bet on a team that employs Jonathan Villar and plays him, so I feel it only fair that I lost, however.

I could hit Mark Leiter Jr. Everybody could.

Two days in a row the starter shines and the pen sucks.

Why McKinstry is leading off? Why not Morell?

Wesneski looked pretty impressive in his major league debut. 5 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 8 k’s. Really nice wipeout slider, got a couple of strikeouts with his change up, fastball maxed out at 96 mph.

Everything I read about Wesneski seems positive. 12th ranked prospect, but considered a viable piece of a rotation? That's good to hear.

I love that the Cubs swept the Mets. Wouldnt give them Contreras for peanuts and now, beat them when they are going for a division crown. Fuck the Mets!

I’d do a called it on trea turner, but then csf will get all riled up about Rodon being interested. Although, it doesn’t say there’s mutual interest in regards to him lol

I would sport wood for a week if both happened.

But how about Morel. Starting to look like Javy II out there,
