It sucks. I'm a couple miles from the coast in SC. Probably going to miss this one but there's still a chance it comes here.

Probably close to 1000 houses got flooded out in my area by Florence last year, and a bunch by Matthew three years ago.

Stay safe and mildly inebriated, everyone.
You guys sandbagging yet?

Nah, it's forecast to be a fast-moving 1-2 when it gets up here, and if it's anywhere near the track it's supposed to be on it will either make landfall before it get here or (more likely) pass by us at sea roughly perpendicular to the beach. Right at the beach might be a different story, my wife and kid will be coming back from the beach soon, I'll ask them.

Edit: also I'm in the Myrtle area, which is shielded by a large bay. Charleston and the islands, much different story.

Also good track from the most recent Euro model, which has it turning north relatively early and staying off the coast until maybe clipping the outer banks.

We parked our boat in St Augustine which looks to be well north of where it is going to hit land.... but this asshole hurricane wants to run right up the coast after it makes landfall.

So is St Augustine in harms way? @SERE Bear how does it look?

I was just about to say the same thing. There is nowhere for him to evacuate. Hopefully he is sitting in China or Vietnam or some other place where he is making a companies life miserable and drinking lots of Tito's.

Be honest, part of you is hoping remy drowns in storm surge.

The pictures and videos coming out so far are devastating as expected. Important to note, the places with the most damage likely have no way to communicate. This is bad, very bad. I'm not looking forward to seeing the casualty numbers.

Not even remotely close. I love remy. I often don't agree with him, but he seems like a great guy. Hope everyone is safe.

No one will be out of harms way for at least 5 days. Storm is still Cat 5 with 175mph winds and is destroying Grand Bahamas Island right now.

Every year for the past 4-5 a large island or chain of islands has been obliterated by a hurricane. This might be the worst, with the wind strength, slow speed, and the size of these islands they just basically become part of the ocean for a couple days.
