Would have liked to have kept Rizzo for leadership but production was diminishing and inconsistent. Jed got a good offer he couldn't pass up. Will root for Rizzo where ever he ends up.
Loved Bryant but His agent would never allow him to sign a somewhat club friendly extension plus there was the issue with the 1st year sending him to minors to start the season to get the Cubs another year that caused a bit of bad blood
I enjoyed Javy but how can you pay $25-30M a year to a guy with an on base percentage under .300 who strikes out 39% of the time. No matter how good the defense is.
Would have like them to also move Heyward but Cubs would have to pay a team $30M to take him with the 2 years left on his contract.
I would expect a couple of free agent signings this winter. Probably nothing huge. Next winter may bring a big signing or 2.
Bottom line - Cubs have under performed since the World Series win and you can't pay half your team $20-30M a year for average results.
