The McCaskeys are kids that grew up in the best pizzeria in town that don't know how to slice a pizza, let alone make one. Of course when they need someone to run the pizzeria, they'll hire someone that used to manage a McDonalds.

If Pace stays, I would like someone above him, just not an accountant who's accumulated decades of losing records.

Sighhh. Anyone who thinks Pace being elevated to Head of Football Operations would somehow open up a GM position for someone else to take things in a new direction clearly doesn't grasp reality. The new GM would report directly to Pace. He (or she?) would handle the tactical aspects of Pace's current job, things like doing player evaluations and conducting the draft. Pace would be freed up to focus on the more strategic aspects of his current position. If Pace gets put into a Head of Football Operations position, it would be because George McCaskey is looking to further build around him. The idea that McCaskey would want a GM installed with any level of autonomy from Pace is just lame-brain stupid...

This post makes no sense. McCaskey nor Phillips has rarely if ever gotten involved in player decisions. Pace has been allowed to operate with little to no meddling from either.

So it makes no sense to presume they will someone want to be deeply involved now.

The writing is on the wall boys.

New GM: Louis Riddick
-Riddick was not short on compliments for Pace and the roster he built on national TV. Riddick would have the assistance of "veteran GM" Pace. The front office/GM collaboration will continue.

New Coach: Sean Payton
-The Pace/Saints connection is strong, thick, and heavy.

The end.

When it's announced that Pace isn't going anywhere the coaching search likely goes from unlimited candidates to Leslie Frazier or Dennis Allen.

Might as well keep Nagy for another season, start Foles and trade Fields. He isn't going to develop in Chicago.

When talking football and the McCaskeys I just shrug my shoulders and say whatever. But using your analogy….Those mother f*cking a**holes!!

Not sure why so many hate the fact pace might get promoted.

He sucks, but is well respected in the league. Maybe that nets him a quality HC/GM?

Or maybe he mitch trubisky matt nagy's us again.

I'd honestly much rather he go upstairs to deal with more of the numbers and less of the player talent. A full clean would be best but Idk if thats happenin.
Bears need to do better. Pace has to go

Sighhh (II). The structure of the Bears football operations side has been very old school, with the GM pretty much overseeing everything. The President of Football Operations role (Phillips) has essentially been to serve as a conduit for reporting to ownership. As noted, there's no evidence of either Ted or George meddling in football operations. But the trend in professional sports over the past several decades has been to have a Director of Operations that is actively leading the operational side, with the GM role relegated to overseeing that things get done. See Theo/Hoyer (Cubs) or AK/Eversley (Bulls). If Pace gets elevated to President of Football Operations, you're looking at a Hoyer/Eversley type as the new GM, not someone coming in with a mandate to change things as they see fit...

So you used examples in other sports not the NFL. Can you provide examples from the NFL since the Bears are in the NFL?
