Well I'm just hoping that is just depth and Abbott gets Jake's next start.

Alzolay, Hendricks
Davies, Abbott, Mills, Alzolay
Hendricks, Davies, Abbott

I would do is when PHI starts start up Nico and demote Ortega. That sets up the lead off going forward.

On the 6th DFA Jake and add Leeper to the 40 and bring him up. Demote Stewart and have Abbott start.

Steel I am leaning towards extending him in Iowa. But this might be better done in the off-season.

Holy crap, 7 game loss streak and now the lowly Reds are only a half back from leapfrogging the Cubs.

July 30 is the trade deadline. Less they have a miracle turnaround the next few weeks the inevitable is going to happen. The only player who has job security is jayhey, lol

Well, I’m glad everyone is finally on the same page and that the offensive mirage ended before the trade deadline this year.

One of the interesting side effects of dealing way darvish is the cubs likely have the budget to eat some money when they trade bryant. That should also help with the return.

Id rather have salary cap issues with productive players like Darvish, than save salary cap to sign an "almost could be Darvish." I dont like the rebuild mentality. We need to keep Bryant at any cost and eat Heywards contract at any cost

there isn’t much money to eat, is there? He’s on a contract year and is making 18.6 million I believe. We are around the halfway point of the season, so the most salary we could “eat” would be like 9 mil, right?

I mean, 9 mil is 9 mil….but, I don’t think 9 mil will be a sticking point for any team looking to acquire him at the deadline really

Here is a game we can play thatll make this exciting to watch today.......
Will the Cubs have more hits than the Reds have home runs? Mahle is out there today and Alzolay is giving up almost 2 Homer Simpsons a game. D'oh!

Pretty much non watchable until Nico returns. Then we might get some decent game play.

Javy's personality and past highlights will sell tickets. Any mlb team wants that.
Contreras is playing a primo position
Bryant is Bryant
Few of the cub bullpen are having career seasons on 1 year deals

Jed should be taking phone calls now!
