Do the Bears project him at safety or linebacker?
I think the Bears project him as a special teamer and labeled as a LB on the roster. He projects as a linebacker in the NFL. Probably in passing packagesDo the Bears project him at safety or linebacker?
They've both already made the roster, not sure what will change between now and next Sunday.Once you go white you know its right....
seriously tho I expect only one of Sanborn or Weatherford to make the roster...Sanborn may go to practice squad.....I expect these guys to contribute to special teams if they are both on roster. I think Weatherford has better upside in the pros as he can lay wood and speed to play safety.
yes...I was imagining they would cut Sanborn but they kept them both for now....both players will see active time on defense, not just special teams. I'll be interested to see how they performThey've both already made the roster, not sure what will change between now and next Sunday.
If they haven't changed the rule player who are claimed off waivers can't be put on the practice squad either. So Weatherford has to be on the 53 or be cut iirc.
the original team instantly loses the contract to the new team...there is no matching...no new contractI thought that when a player is picked after cuts, the original team has the option to match and place the player on their active roster. Must not be the case anymore.
Nope, the new Kwiatkowski is Jack Sanborn. I checked their combine results, they are very similar. Sanborn and Kwiatkowski are slow (4.7' 40 yd), and not quick. The difference is if Sanborn plays middle linebacker, his lack of fast twitch is as not as big a deal. Linebackers get the luxury of starting to move well before contact. Kwiatkowski was playing a linebacker position that required him to cover running backs releasing into outside pass routes and his lack of speed was a killer. But if Sanborn is playing in the middle his instincts for the game will really help him out. I hope he finds a way to stick. I also hope Kwiatkowski finds another job in the league. To be honest, until we see a regular season game we will not know how the defense is truly set up. Go Bears! Is he white? Does he try really hard? Then he’s the new Kwiatkowski

Bears should have never cut Jesper!Fuck yeah! World beaters like Colt Kermit and Jasper Horseshead, guarantee they make the all-lunchpail team
It was a clickbait headline using the adjective mad. He wasn't mad at anyone, he never said he was mad at anyone he never implied he was mad at anyone implicitly or explicitly. He said it hurt losing the guy.Bears Claim Of Sterling Weatherford Reportedly Upset The Colts
The Chicago Bears made several waiver claims on Wednesday. Sterling Weatherford might've been the most underrated of the bunch.www.sportsmockery.com
GM Ryan Poles sent a message on Wednesday. The Chicago Bears usually never claimed more than two players on waivers during final cuts. That tradition got flipped on its head when they secured six new faces. Most of the buzz surrounded former 1st round offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood and veteran defensive tackle Armon Watts. However, there is also an undercurrent of people claiming they got another steal in Sterling Weatherford.
The rookie was teammates with Bears 5th round pick Dominique Robinson at Miami of Ohio. Across four seasons (36 games) as a safety, he racked up 209 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 19 passes defended. Weatherford had a reputation for being a vocal leader, intelligent, tough, and reliable tackler. There were no glaring holes in his game. Experts had him rated as a likely 4th round pick. So it was surprising that he went undrafted. Part of the stipulation for his arrival in Indianapolis with the Colts was switching to linebacker.
That didn’t seem to bother him. He finished second in the league with 18 tackles during the preseason and added an interception for good measure. It was surprising when the Colts cut him, but apparently, they felt he would end up on their practice squad. Chicago soon destroyed that fantasy. GM Chris Ballard wasn’t happy about it.
Sterling Weatherford must be good if Ballard is angry.
Many believe the Colts GM is among the best talent evaluators in the entire NFL. When he likes somebody, it is worth taking note of. Poles should know. He worked together with Ballard in Kansas City for years. It says a lot about his own eye for talent that he recognized his friend and colleague might’ve made a mistake. Either way, the rookie couldn’t have fallen into a better situation.
Matt Eberflus is a linebacker specialist. He knows the position better than most. Assistant coach Dave Borgonzi helped develop All-Pro Shaquille Leonard in Indianapolis. If Sterling Weatherford has something to offer, the Bears will find it. He’s got 6’3 size to go along with 4.60 speed. At the very least, he has the makings of a quality backup and special teams stalwart. If he takes to the coaching well, he can become much more.
So, he's good?He is nothing like Kwiatkowski. He would be the complete opposite of Kwiatkowski as far as strengths go.
They kept getting confused in the meetings so just claimed them both.Wait, which one is Weatherwood and which one is Leatherford?
Jesus christ!!! That movie, and that scene.
