Speaking of Mr. Pace, he has a decision to make this week:

The Bears signed running back Mike Davis to a two-year, $6 million contract this offseason. That has not gone well, and if General Manager Ryan Pace is smart, he’ll admit his mistake and cut Davis this week.

That’s because, as noted by Nick Korte, the Davis signing is currently preventing the Bears from receiving a 2020 fourth-round compensatory pick. Under the NFL’s complex compensatory pick formula, the Bears would have received a fourth-rounder for losing free agent Adrian Amos. The signing of Davis canceled out the loss of Amos, however — except that if Davis is cut before Week 10, he doesn’t count as a signing for compensatory pick purposes, and the fourth-rounder for Amos would be restored.

Given that Davis has just 11 carries for 25 yards all season, cutting him this week should be a no-brainer.

Stay tuned....

He will not be fired.

He will not be fired for financial reasons, not performance reasons.

Is that what you made up or have you heard something that we haven't heard yet?

As a Pace fan, there is no denying -This is ultimately on Pace and he doesn’t have the resources to fix the QB situation. Because of this, next season is his last in all likelihood.
Yes, he does have the resources. Some players on this roster might be worth a 1st round pick. They can certainly trade players for picks.

I’m afraid that this team is in a bad place for a long time because of Pace.

You can evaluate Pace on this one simple thing. throw out everything he did bad, or good. Just ask yourself, this, would you hire a GM that would allow Shaheen to take up a spot on your roster today? That's it, would you want a GM that would allow that. That is your answer on Pace.

If you are ownership you have to ride this out with Pace. You tell him he can go out and sign a veteran QB to a one or two year deal (cheaply). Mitch is probably stuck on the roster in 2020 but obviously not playing. You cut prince and try to bring him back cheaply. You can probably get danny tre on a pretty cheap deal for several years. This basically keeps the defense together. If they bomb the first two months of next year you can easily trade arob and any other attractive assets and then basically tank the rest of the way.

You then fire pace after the season as he's only on the hook thru 2021. in theory they would have a decent first round pick in 2021 and the cap situation gets much better. bum ass burton, gabriel, massie are all easily movable at that point if still around. trubisky and floyd are probably off the books. you would still have most of your core defensive guys to at least bridge to the future.

Ryan Pace's mailbox may be overflowing with thank you cards.

A thank you from the Philadelphia Eagles, for deciding Jordan Howard was a bad fit for the Bears.

Thank yous from the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans for passing on Pat Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, respectfully.

Big thank yous from the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings for a series of bonehead blunders that have placed the Bears squarely at the bottom of the division.

Did I miss anyone?
Jon gruden. Maybe he should send pace a gift basket.

I love these kind of points. So worthless and desperate. Hey i know our GM sucks but look at what this other GM has done. Loser talk. Bears deserve better.
Yeah this is very common among bears fans. another point meatballs make is "well at least we arent the browns". why would you compare yourself to a perennial loser like the browns instead of winners like the patriots?

This is my biggest gripe with the fanbase. Standards are so low. Jay Cutler is good because he’s not (insert literally 98% of former Bears QBs).

I’m tired of comparing ineptitude to ineptitude. How you evaluate a players worth is comparing them to their current day peers. Of course there also needs to be perspective. How did they get here? What circumstances led to these results? Sample size. Etc

"Other GMs miss so it is okay for Pace to cripple the franchise"

"He made some throws"

Nothing is ever going to top that poster who described 125 yards/0 tds as "Mitch throwing deep dimes."

We do not know what a good football team is so we get overly excited about flashes of competence.

If we ever get a QB who can really play I am not sure that any of us will know what to do.

Money picks for pace were third and fourth rounds, gave up third and fourth round picks to move up.

Moved up getting played by a rookie GM in Lynch to pick the wrong guy.

Picked wrong with White, Floyd, Shaheen, cut Bullard when we were short at DE, playing well for the cardinals. This davis signing? Yeah, its been bad and shows in the teams lack of depth.

Who was that great QB he brought in from Tampa Bay a while back? Then of course the Trubs deal. Then the Howard release. I wanna know Bears Fans, If you owned a wooden newspaper stand on Skid Row would you trust him to run it?

because there is nothing to rebuild with right now...you fire him after 2020
And give him more pics to flush and the possibility of trading more future pics? Not. A. Chance.

if you know the Gm isn’t the guy, you get rid of him ASAP.

i understand that in principal but no one is going to want to inherent this dumpster fire with all the cap problems next year and limited picks. you tell him no trading future picks and he can at most sign a veteran qb next year for two years. he can try and work out of it next year but with restrictions. yes, basically he is fucked.
