Long term its important they found Vaughn for DH situations. I hope Mercedes is on the playoff roster and gets given DH in favorable match-ups and PH's...could be a career 3rd catcher or somebody's personal catcher.

Mercedes can't play any field position, or run the bases well. If he's not hitting consistently for power, it's tough to justify a roster spot.

I hate that the local sports radio guys are saying it’s a demotion. The guys numbers are not that bad….it’s just we need a 2nd baseman, he’s a DH/1st baseman and he is slumping. Without his April and May, who knows where the Sox would be right now.

What a great story. I hope he has an outstanding career. He looks like he has a disciplined approach at the plate for a rookie. He had family in the stands last night for his first major league home run.

Mercedes continues to hit at Charlotte. His average is .314 and has an OPS of 1.072. He homered yesterday too. It will be interesting to see if he gets another shot this season in Chicago. I’m not too sure that he will.

Eh if Burger or Sheets are slumping, I'd be surprised if they didn't swap em out for Mercedes.
Especially if we're going on a playoff run and he's hot.
