My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
IIRC the Challenger disaster caused the Bears to not go to the White House. So, he had an excuse built in. They eventually went in 2011 as a team.

McMahon is actually on record saying playing for the Packers was better than playing for the Bears.

Payback? LOL yeah not exactly...the Packers were obviously just fine with it.
Yeah I would actually say that was very respectful of the Packers organization to let him do that. Like the poster said earlier, probably had to do with the Challenger.

Yay more 85 bears content! What we’ve all been asking for.
don't be a bad guy.

McMahon was a character. it doesn't surprise me he'd say playing for the Packers was better. they at least take winning at football seriously and I doubt he had to continuously spar with Holmgren like he did Ditka for basically doing the right things on the field.

Why not talk about the best the Bears have ever put out on the field?

Is Urlacher somehow now taboo to talk about too? Tillman?

Some fans some of you have become if you want to throw out the history of the Bears!
Yes because being tired of hearing about a team and players from almost 40 years ago = throwing out history.

I’d like the bears to be relevant presently. I’d like to think the Bears aren’t hiring Leslie Frazier because this ownership group cannot help but pander to older Bears fans and their obsession with the past.

Let’s talk about Charles Leno Jr

And what about talking about McMahon has to do with the present cycle of hires?

Nothing.

The present Bears not being relevant has nothing to do with the past Bears teams.

Those were just examples of the GMs, coaches and players all combining well enough to produce some special Bears teams.

I am as happy remembering the '85 Bears as I am remembering Payton in the 70s (shitty team but wonderful HB) or Mike Brown or Lovie's defense.

Maybe if the present hires get it right, the Bears will be relevant again and there will be some recent history for young and old Bear fans to be proud of.

Don't try to bring down Bears teams from 35 plus years ago (or 15) because the latest Bears teams have sucked.

Acknowledge that the current team sucks and will soon be forgotten.

Really, who on the 2018 to 2021 teams is without a doubt going to be someone you remember 15 years from now?

Well, at that point, you are going to be the old man.

Is there going to be any Bears history that you will be able to look back on fondly?

Ok, let's talk about Charles Leno Jr.

What are your fond memories of him?

To me, he did really well as a 6th(?) round draft pick for being a 6th round pick playing LT. He seemed to have dropped off a lot after getting a big contract. He was soft in the run game and later in his Bears career, he gave up too much pressure on pass rushes. He was always there to pick up the QB after his man sacked the QB though.

So ... did talking about Leno cause you to want Cutler as the new HC? And do you think that George picked up on your thoughts?

My latest memory of him is him playing well for another team. Very shocking that the great Ryan Pace couldnt identity that coaching was an issue so he let an iron man LT walk so he could sign a 40 year old and draft a rookie with a broken back.

George blocked my number after i kept texting him "told you" when he fired Pace.

It's always interesting to me that the fake, tough guy meatballs who love to talk about something that happened 36 years ago idolize a guy who would later say that past is for cowards and losers.
