You'd be taking on a 1st round contract for someone whom the team that knows him best is allegedly trying to dump. You're ignoring the contract aspect. Borom's (5th rounder) contract only cost the Bears $333k in guaranteed money over 4 years. This guy's got $11.2M remaining over 3 years, and he hasn't shown anything close to warranting that. I see no way Poles has any interest in taking on a contract like that, nor any other NFL GM for that matter...
Ehh as far as contracts go, 3-4 mil a year isn't too big a price to pay for a prospect. The salary cap exceeds 200 Mil. I'd look at a fifth round player instead of Toney because you're getting a hungry player who is going to try and outwork everyone.

They paid $18M for 4 games from Mike Glennon. Again, people don't give away 1st rnd talent if there isn't potential pitfalls, but a 5th rnd pick and 3.5M for 3 yrs in cap space is a risk worth taking for a T Hill level talent. And it would be only about $5.6M for yrs as his SB is on NYG's books.

I basically never watch the Giants, but they had a game against the Cowboys this season and Toney was absolutely killing it, even with Mike Glennon coming in for a half or whatever it was.
Ok, but how did that game end for Toney. Best game he had in 2021 and he gets tossed at the end for throwing a punch.
At best he will be a distraction, or more likely a head case on and off the field.

A lot of buzz about this guy the last couple of days with a lot of idiot takes on bears going for him. I've seen numerous trade idea's with the bears giving up some combo of at least 2 picks this year or this year and next as high as a 2nd and 3rd or more.
The guy seems to be a talented malcontent, sick and or injury type guy, maybe A Brown lite.
He had Covid 2 times last year plus injuries etc and missed a lot of time having only 1 good game.

There a lot of hype on him going into the draft last year and I think the Giants took him with the 20th pick.

The Giants tried to get a third for S. Barkley who is a proven talent but much injured having no luck so I can't imagine them getting anything close to the above for Toney.

Seems like a failed pick with a lot of issues that we don't need even with his talent.
What do you think?
Is Kardaius related to Kedaris?

I’d trade them Foles if Taylor wasn’t on the roster already

If you can get him for a 5th and draft like this how in the hell could you not be excited for next season.
A WR room of Mooney, Pickens, Toney and Pringle is beyond intriguing. But I see no way he will be available for a 5th.

If this is a way that we can get him, then I’ll take the ten cent head. Worse comes to worse, we now have a kick off returner.

I think its a fine alternative to wasting a second round selection on a wide receiver that should otherwise be going to the trenches.

Relative *success rate of draft picks by round (all positions)

* success being defined as full time starters for 4 years

1st round 70.%

2nd round 49.16%

3rd round: 29.19%

4th round: 20.30%

5th round: 14.42%

6th round: 8.84%

7th round: 6.40%

Also of note, success is slightly higher at the beginning of each round, and progress's below the average by the end.

Looking at it by position, it is slightly more interesting:

With that in mind, Toney is probably worth at the very least a late round 3rd.

So, offer him Nick Foles and next year’s conditional 3rd based on performance. Sure, why not?

if Nick Foles had any value he would have been gone by now.
A next years conditional 3rd round would only hold about 5th round value.
Other teams will offer more.

Was that you who suggested he play RB? I remember being shocked and against the idea, at the time, but, looking back, that wasn’t a bad idea — especially when we know how bad of a receiver he was.

As afar as Toney goes, you’re right. He wasn’t the best on the team, and he had a decent year with manufactured touches and barely there coverage.
His change of direction, contact balance, and speed is special.

Discounting his ability because he played with Kyle Pitts seems silly.

The guy has ridiculous talent, you throw a 5th rnd pick at this every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He may bust out but the above posts talking about drafting a similar grade or draft someone like him in the 5th have not seen him play. I am pretty sure he isn't the easiest guy to deal with, but thats why you would be getting 1st round grade talent for a 5th.

Yeah, hope Poles pulls the trigger on one of the 5th rnd WR that play like this,LOL.
Ok, this one might not be his level, but he actually does seem interesting as a late round flyer.

No, you totally discount Toney not because of his ability but because of the many off the field issues he had last year.
