And Poles straight up said it was his decision. And it is a reported fact that he sat down with the three head coach candidates by himself for the final interviews before making that decision.

Both Poles and Eberflus indicated that they were on each other's radar from meetings in previous years. Part of the process of even being in the position to interview for those sorts of jobs is having the discussions and meetings to be able to build together a plan and have people in mind that you want to work with.

It was reported that during the GM interviews that the Bear's search committee asked the GM candidates who they were interested in for their head coaches and they added those coaches to their list of head coaching interviews.

I think people also like to forget that Poles and Chris Ballard knew each other from their time in KC and that Poles would have likely had input or conversations with Chris Ballard about Eberflus. Hell, Ballard may have been/probably was the conduit for my prior comment how Poles and Eberflus were on each other's radar and making connections.

History of what regime? Poles is a brand new GM that has never been with the Bears before and he clearly said Eberflus was his 1st choice. So again there is no logical reason to trust that Polian is telling you the truth but not Poles. In fact Polian was a part of the lying Bears regime for longer than Poles when Poles made the statement. So I have no idea how you can claim you don't trust Poles because he had been with the regime for like 2 days but somehow you trust Polian who had been with the regime looking for a coach for a month or more.
