Somewhere around there. Hope they dont try lowballing him
Don’t worry this team is deepLooks like bears won't be doing much of anything in FA next year
So many negatives in that first sentence to decipher. By doubting it won't be cheap, that means you think it will be cheap?I doubt they won't try to resign him, but I also doubt it won't be cheap. Likely after the 5th year, we are talking about a top three cover LB and top 5 overall at that point.
That's just it. He's the next one in a long line of great inside backers on the Bears.Got to pay him. He’s the staple the next 5-6 years. He’s still so young with a lot of experience already.
With his original holding out over contract language, his mystery 2019 "personal issue," his predilection for partying with porn stars, or him being the only starting defensive veteran at OTA's, he is an enigma. Is he a players rights pioneer, a head case, or a great young player and young leader that has had a few unsavory spotlight moments?Remember how much trouble he gave us with his rookie contract…..

That said, I see no rush to re-sign him. He is a Bear for the next 2 seasons for $13M and is controlled for 2 more years for $40M.
So he is basically playing on a 4yr/$53M contract with $0 in dead money after 2022 vs Warner's 5yr/$95M and $17M in dead cap after 2022. Now if he and the Bears can agree to a mutually beneficial contract fine, but I would not be negotiating anywhere near Fred Warner money.
He never mentioned the tag. Everyone knows Quinn is gone after this year. Roquan extension wouldn't effect the cap until 2 years out from now, which the cap situation can be a lot better by then. He'll hold out before being tagged 2X, but I agree with you... Doesn't make sense to give an ILB top tier money given our cap issues (unless we can get out of Quinn's albatross of a contract).
Can get out of Quinn's contract after 2021, easy after 2022. Cap issues don't really exist after 2021. Quinn, Hicks, Foles, possibly Trevathan and Robinson will potentially be all off the books. Cheap QB, LT, and CB.He'll hold out before being tagged 2X, but I agree with you... Doesn't make sense to give an ILB top tier money given our cap issues (unless we can get out of Quinn's albatross of a contract).
Warner was not a 1st round pick hence why he would have been a free agent next year. Quan was a 1st rounder and thus we exercised the 5th year option. So he is not a free agent until 2023.He'll hold out before being tagged 2X, but I agree with you... Doesn't make sense to give an ILB top tier money given our cap issues (unless we can get out of Quinn's albatross of a contract).
