I was starting to warm to the idea of Caldwell. Oh well.

On the surface it looks like they are playing it safe but who knows, maybe he has a stud OC in his back pocket? Time will tell and I'll be happy with any notable improvement next year as long as Fields takes the next step.

Doubt Caldwell gets a job now unless as a coordinator

Hope it's a good hire, willing to give him a fair shot. I'd be lying if I said I was excited though.

I really thought Daboll + Fields was as good of a match as any in this coaching cycle so disappointed that we'll be going defensive head coach when literally every team in the conference title games are offensive head coaches and every rule change favors the offense.
Can steal Ken Dorsey from the Bills if Daboll stays on as their OC.

Dorsey going with Daboll according to the Miami Dolphin beat writers

I do not know much about Kevin Patullo - the potential offensive coordinator hire.

Hard to have an opinion. He’s never been a HC before so who can really say how he’ll run a team.

Id rather have the hope he can be good than knowing im getting mediocrity from the other two candidates.

Incoming articles and tweets about how much this guys friends and colleagues like him...

This is just meh for me. I like that it isn't a retread. He seems to get consistent production out of his unit, which as a sample size guy, i appreciate. But at the end of the day this is an offensive driven league and you have a really high upside QB and i would much rather them get a HC who specializes in offense and not a guy who we have to pray hires the right people and then 2-3 years from now worry about that OCs replacement.

I also don't like that we didn't hear about a single additional interview outside of the finalists that were in place before Poles was here. Im sorry if it sounds meatball-y but this ownerships history doesn't give me any confidence that this process was handled well, on top of some of the reports coming out during this process.

So they hired ReverseNagy.

Was just about to say the same.

Pretty much all I liked about him about a candidate is he is the polar opposite of Matt Nagy is almost every way and I can't hate on that.

He's also not Dan Quinn or Leslie Frazier...so he's got that as well.

He better get going on a staff though because defense has never been a problem with the Bears.

I’ve been wanting the Bears to go back to a 4-3 for a while now so I’m okay with that aspect of this hire. Hopefully he can get a good OC
