Illinois (5-0) crushes Chaminade, Butler (3-1) throttles UNC to advance to the Maui Invitational Championship game.


Wednesday marks the third and final day of the 2012 Tournament and begins with the seventh-place game between Texas and Mississippi State tipping-off at 2:30 p.m. EST on ESPNU. The fifth-place game will follow with Marquette meeting USC at 5 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

The battle for third place takes place at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2 as the host Chaminade Silverswords take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Finally, the 2012 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational wraps up at 10 p.m. on ESPN in the "Maui Midwest Showdown" when neighbors Butler and Illinois meet for a chance to win the Wayne Duke Championship Trophy.

Damn. Coulda had a rematch of the 05 championship game. Oh well.

That would have been nice (never enough hate for UNC). But...what is nicer is the 23 point win over the team that smoked Texas who took USC to overtime after we beat USC.

Now the Illini take on the team that beat UNC and kept the coach we were going after. To win a tournament.

That would be nice as well ;)

My dad's a big Illini fan...but has little faith in Groce. I was telling him earlier today that Groce is a good coach from a good coaching tree (Matta, I believe) and can recruit in Illinois.

Congrats to Illinois! Winning the Maui Invy is a big deal!

Groce knows how to spread the floor and is actually using Griffey. If only we had a bonafide center, something that's becoming rare.
