momentum changers. tackles for loss, negative plays, turnovers

roquan's big plays in a bear uniform can be counted on one hand
If you can count his sacks, TFLs etc on one hand that must be a pretty big, inbred hand fella

I can count the number of forced fumbles Roquan has caused in four years with my dick.

Alligator Quan has less Ints, Forced fumbles, and sacks in the same time frame as Leonard, but wants more money??

So forced fumbles is the metric that really matters? Can’t argue that Leonard is different level on those.

In the last couple of years Roquan stacks up pretty well against him and the likes of Warner statistically

Could you imagine if Pace was still GM and Roquan went public saying he’s requested a trade. People would be furious with the bears front office.

But because so many here have put so much blind faith into Poles, just because he’s not Pace, people are flipping on Roquan, the best player on the team.

It’s unfortunate. Poles has done nothing to earn your trust. Roquan has. It’s OK to be wrong. It’s better than being stupid.

Absolutely correct. He's not a game changer and cannot be paid like one. He's a good solid consistent player, but you don't a player like that to a top contract.

The whole premise of the most recent guy signing a contract gets more than the last guy that signed is so fucking dumb. You're not as good as the last guy, so you get less.

Is he better than the last ILB to sign a big contract?

Is Kyler Murray a better QB than Mahomes?

Yeah, neither do I...

Let some other team pay 20 mil a year for a short fat SS that just happens to plays LB.

Need a coverage LB on the cheap poles?... Just find another fat SS...

These modern day undersized tackling machine speed LBers are a dime a dozen in the draft. If you pay Roquan 20 mil a year to be the WILL, Poles might as well give Monty 20 mil a year, cause 2 down RBs are hard to find and replace too...
I don't!!!!! I remember dominant performances by SIngletary, Marshall, Urlacher, Briggs though . I'm sure Butkus had a bunch of them. You know all the guys Smith mentioned in his letter. lolol

This isnt ISU. He isnt the best route runner or pass catching RB on the Bears roster.
He's above average route runner and pass catching RB in the NFL.

Roquan is special there is no way around it

Unfortunately the market and position don't fit the current meta of the NFL. Will be interesting to see what happens here.

On one hand I wouldn't mind him paid to a backloaded 3 year deal, anything else Off ball LB shelf life just doesn't translate as well as it once did

I kind of agree on the take, but for a reason different than maybe most, Teams lose good players all the time, but the reason is because teams already have the play on the team to replace, or salary cap reasons. I feel like Poles tried to give him an offer without trying to break the bank... (what that is I hope was at least 18 mill or better or the offer would be likely a slap to the face imo)

But... at the end of the day, what do people talk about IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SPOTS ON THE TEAM...

QB
LT
Pass rush
1 WR (or at least 1 or 2 high priced target)
Adding the rest of the line to have at least 2 or 3 more great players on the line and the others fit the scheme.

Smith sadly is none of those things. And while you do not want to cap yourself from being able to pay them. What Smith might want, might hurt the team down the line. Hard for me to predict it, but if he is thinking like me I get it.

Long story short, a great player, at a spot that is IMO second tier that you pay for. R. Smith is play DE getting 12 + sacks a year, he'd been paid in March. (AKA Poles would of came to him before Smith did.

I like Roquan and was my guy in that draft but if I'm Poles. I sit tight or make a token adjustment and call it a day.

Roquan, are you watching this thread? Sign the damn deal! You're already making 10% more by fucking up negotiations and making it personal on your own.

He was so good, Pace gave Cohen a questionable extension.... Poles continued the faith in Molasses Monty by drafting Ebner even when other areas were higher on the needs list.

They help, as do sacks, TFLs and defensive stops
I remember this one time he caused a fumble in a Bears game...

I mean literally that one time in 4 seasons.

He is good at it. You're going to base your opinion on what Poles did when Monty was a rookie and with Nagy as a clueless coach on how to use him? Need a deep RB room, especially this year. I suggest you find the all-22 breakdown by Dr. Draft Phil and you will see for yourself
