I'd be up for a 7th IF and only if a team will be cut out while 2 wins better than a shitty division champ.

ex. 11-5 vs 9-7 or 10-6 vs an 8-8 div champ. Give the chumps a bump. In the very least, give better record home field in Wildcard if 2 wins or more better than div champ.

Otherwise keep as is.

I think it's statistically impossible for the 3rd wild card team to have a 6-10 record.

But nice try

I like the new proposed changes. What I'd like to see more of are changes related to the officiating. They gotta do something because its a shitshow out there and that doesn't even count how the Packers seemingly get the benefit constantly.

Better record should determine home field. Re-seed the field and keep going.

7 teams
They'll have to take it up to 16 teams for the Bears to become a perennial playoff team.

I'm not the biggest fan of the concept. A lot of 6 seeds are pretty average as is most years

This is smart for the NFL. That extra playoff spot will keep teams in the playoff hunt longer than normal. That means by week 16 there may me be more than 1 or 2 games worth watching that actually matter. It should help with a ratings boost and keep more market’s interested.

I guess I'm okay with it.

I just don't want to see the regular season cheapened because of expanded playoffs. The NBA is unwatchable for me because you can tell teams don't really try until after the all star break...lol. Half the teams in the league end up in the playoffs. Only the shitty teams don't make it.

Do you worry about there being a possibility of more meaningless games towards the end of the year where a coach benches all the starters?

This is they way it should have been designed in the first place.

Too many worthless games in weeks 15+16 and two teams dont need byes...now everybody is likely to stay motivated longer and more playoff football is better anyway.

I want them to make TDs worth 6.3 points and an extra point is only worth 0.7, but a 2 point conversion is worth 2.3....

The CBA passed by owners and now is just waiting to see if the players pass it.

If this was in place in 2012, that legendary Bears defense would have been exposed and Lovie would have stuck around a couple more years, saving us from the Emery regime.

From reading the players comments, they are not too happy.

No reason for players to play a 17th game with a 250k on their game check.

Owners basically want the players to take a pay cut and be exposed to more injury risk just to line the owners' pockets.

NFLPA Executive Committee voted 6-5 to recommend rejecting the proposal. The proposal is still in the process of being voted on by the 32 player reps. Even if they reject the proposal (highly probable...), the NFLPA apparently may put it up for a vote by the members as a whole, although I would assume that to be merely a show-our-solidarity type of thing.

The players have generally voiced two primary desires in a new contract, better guarantees on their contracts and holding the regular season to 16 games. They got neither in the current proposal. I'd guess an 18-week/16-game (2 bye) schedule seems like the sensible counter-proposal here...
