No reason for a national analyst to pick the Bears in this one that’s perfectly understandable. This season is about finding young talent before spending that cap space, establishing the new culture, and developing Fields, that’s it. If they happen to win more than expected great!
What I don’t understand is all the grief the Bears get for finally doing things the right way. It’s like when they traded for Cutler and Mack the narrative was “this is stupid they aren’t ready to win it all why do this? “ Now they take the patient approach and it’s “omg they don’t care about Fields or winning”. Can it ever be positive?
Other teams rebuild and it’s ok but it’s endless grief for the Bears. I get that they have Fields but I want to see him compete for Super Bowls for years, not have a false bump in wins for 1 year. This is a necessary step to make that happen. If he is what we hope he is this season will be invaluable to his long term success.
