I have a question and please pardon and forgive me if this is a ignorant question because I'm literally "hip" to things more often than not being not old and boomerish but what is this football "fear porn" phrase that I keep on seeing literally be tossed about all of a suddenly lately in the passed few days around this forum all of a sudden and why is this suddenly something people are saying in the reports about new coaches and what have you?

I would think the way Ole described it made perfect sense. in the context of Justin Fields, there was omgph34rpr0n over the premise of the team trading him. you know how people here act like chicken littles over nothing? it's that. I'm quite certain it's that.

Random thoughts:

• Poles seems a little green. I know you're excited and you're a former player and you've got that former-player camaraderie thing going on, but your new HC is your employee, not your brother. I mean I get it: Enthusiasm and raw emotion and focus... It just seemed a bit over-the-top
• Eberflus quote: "My next piece of advice for the players (for sure), is get your track shoes on; because we're running." (#96 calling his real-estate agent: 'I want the house on the market ASAP!)
• "We will play at a high tempo, high-effort, attacking physical style built upon speed, quickness, and explosive athletic ability." This really does sound like Lovie Smith reincarnated (which makes me wonder about the times the Bears' defense got sliced up by good offenses)
• Bilal Nichols is probably the closest the Bears have to a 3-technique defensive tackle on the roster. Defensive tackle is going to be a huge; I believe they'll use Mack and Flynn as defensive ends. I could be wrong though; been wrong about a lot lately lol

Ty kindly. If I'm honest, I don't really have enough info to make an informed decision, and I probably shouldn't have said anything about Getsy. For all I know these guys might come here and knock the ball out of the park, in which case I will gladly be hooping and hollering their praises.

My knee-jerk, "Been a Bears fan forever and am kinda beat-down from decades of losses" response is to lean towards the disappointed side, mostly because none of the people I was personally hoping for got hired.

For the record, I wanted Rick Smith as GM, Brian Dabol as head-coach, and whomever Dabol hired for OC I would have been cool with, ironically even if that was Getsy, because it would have come from an offensive guy. For DC I wanted to keep Sean Desai; I feel like he didn't perform horribly for a first year DC (they finished 6th overall), and Desai will only get better over time.

As it stands, I feel like the entire defensive scheme is about to get torn apart and reconstructed and as a consequence will likely fall in rankings, when honestly we were a couple of couple of players from being #1 or #2: (A NB, a LCB, and and some younger defensive line talent- even if the Bears were to keep Hicks for 2022, his injury trajectory is not optimal). So the defense will probably fall in rankings, even if it could gain again after a year ago, because it's being ripped apart, perhaps unnecessarily?
